Work Arrangement: This role is categorized as onsite. this means the successful candidate to report to the GM office full time.
Your Role:
At GM EHS, we are committed to developing innovative solutions to complex Environmental, Health, and Safety challenges. As an EHS professional at the facility, you will have the opportunity to lead programs that ensure compliance in air, water, waste, workplace safety, and health standards. You will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to reduce risk and enhance overall EHS performance.
This role involves working cross-functionally with diverse teams to design and execute best-in-class, sustainable solutions that improve compliance and promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship across the site. We are currently seeking an EHS Supervisor who is passionate about protecting people and the planet, and who wants to help position the facility as a leader in EHS compliance and sustainability.
You will be accountable for providing technical and regulatory guidance on workplace safety and environmental requirements, mentoring and coaching operational teams, and partnering with site leadership to maintain compliance with all GM EHS standards and applicable regulations.
What You'll Do:
Analyzing Workplace Safety data and communicating results and trends along with continuous improvement opportunities;
Assessing site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements;
Supporting the site as Subject Matter Expert on Workplace Safety requirements;
Working in partnership with the local site leadership to support Workplace Safety cultural transformation;
Developing and educating site employees to drive Workplace Safety cultural transformation; and Developing partnerships with key site personnel including Manufacturing and Non-Manufacturing Leadership, Human Resources, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics resources, and Health Services;
Responsible for developing/maintaining/supporting robust and consistent environmental stewardship program strategies in support of GM’s mission to deliver sustainable solutions that improve the communities in which we live and work;
Experienced in at least one of the main environmental programs (air permits and regulation, water permits and regulations, or waste regulations);
Engages with Domain Experts as necessary to ensure continual improvement and support new program/project implementation;
Key collaboration with plant management and employees, FAMs, regulatory agencies, internal and external community leaders and members, legal staff, GM and external audit services, utility service provides (WWTP & PH), Project Planning teams at sites & HQ, domain experts and chemical and resource management business partners.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualification)
Educational and Experience Background:
Scientific Bachelor’s degree, Engineering or science or similar
NEBOSH certification or similar as minimum
NIOSH safety specialist certification
Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI.
Analytical mindset with strong data management and reporting skills.
