A Day in the Life:

The EHS Specialist plays a critical role in reinforcing a safety‑first culture by implementing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs that prevent serious injuries, fatalities, and environmental incidents. Reporting to the EHS Manager or designate, this role supports compliance with applicable regulations, promotes proactive risk management, and partners with plant personnel to continuously improve workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Implement organization‑wide safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and zero‑incident work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Communicate safety policies, issues, and regulatory changes to plant personnel and conduct safety and regulatory training as required.

  • Inspect assigned facility areas to ensure compliance with company EHS policies and applicable local, provincial/state, and federal regulations.

  • Provide documentation, recordkeeping, and oversight for site‑specific regulatory programs (including OSHA‑related programs, where applicable).

  • Collect, maintain, and organize regulatory records; track injuries, incidents, and equipment damage events.

  • Support accident investigations by identifying root causes and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Promote environmental sustainability initiatives and support emergency response plans for environmental incidents.

  • Support loss prevention and fire protection programs, including Process Safety Management (PSM) activities involving solvents, hydrogen, ammonia, and chlorine.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Post‑secondary degree preferred OR up to three (3) years of experience in safety, environmental, or EHS‑related roles.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting improvements in Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) risk and High Potential Exposures (HPEs) preferred.

  • Working knowledge of EHS regulations, compliance, and safety management systems.

  • Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.

  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to influence others.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related business software.
