Overview 

We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to deliver pragmatic, site-focused EHS support across our Southern and Western Europe operations. Reporting to the regional EHS Lead, you will collaborate with local site leadership, operational teams and regional EHS colleagues to ensure legal compliance, reduce risk and embed continuous improvement across production, maintenance and engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead site-level hazard assessments and verify that risk controls are designed, implemented and sustained; prioritize mitigation actions based on risk and operational impact.

  • Interpret EU, national and local EHS legislation and advise site leadership on compliance obligations, upcoming regulatory changes and practical implementation steps.

  • Act as the primary local coordinator for contracted EHS service providers; manage delivery, schedules, scope adherence and performance to Boeing standards.

  • Review and revise local EHS policies, procedures and permits to ensure alignment with Boeing requirements, ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 expectations and applicable legislation.

  • Provide EHS input during business development, capital projects, facility modifications and contractor scopes-of-work to ensure regulatory compliance, safe-by-design solutions and constructability of controls.

  • Support deployment, internal auditing and continuous improvement of the regional EHS management system, including corrective action tracking and evidence-based performance reporting.

  • Serve as regional contact for incidents: coordinate immediate response, lead or support root-cause investigations, and ensure timely, accurate internal and regulatory reporting.

  • Track, prioritize and facilitate closure of corrective and preventive actions; verify effectiveness and document lessons learned to prevent recurrence.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory and technical reports required by authorities and regional management; maintain organized records to demonstrate compliance.

  • Collaborate with regional EHS teams to harmonize standards, share best practices, standardize tools/templates and drive consistent program delivery across sites.

  • Support product- and environment-related compliance activities, including waste management, emissions monitoring, chemical inventories (REACH/CLP considerations) and control measures.

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate targeted EHS training programs and toolbox talks; verify completion and assess training effectiveness at assigned sites.

  • Conduct regular site visits across Southern & Western Europe to validate program implementation, engage frontline teams and support site-level continuous improvement.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related discipline; or equivalent vocational diploma with demonstrated, relevant professional experience.

  • Minimum 5 years' proven EHS experience in industrial engineering, production or maintenance environments, preferably within a multinational or multi-site context.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of EU and national regulatory frameworks relevant to the region, with practical experience applying:

  • Italian Legislative Decree 81/08 and comparable local requirements across Southern & Western Europe

  • REACH, CLP and Seveso directive principles (or country-specific equivalents)

  • Waste management, air emissions and chemical inventory controls

  • Strong practical experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management system requirements, including implementation, internal auditing and continual improvement.

  • Proven skills in incident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action management, with a track record of measurable risk reduction.

  • Competence in risk assessment methodologies and selection/verification of effective control measures (e.g., JSA, HAZOP, FMEA as applicable).

  • Experience preparing regulatory submissions and technical compliance reports; excellent recordkeeping and evidence-management practices.

  • Effective interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills: comfortable liaising with site leadership, regulators, contractors and cross-functional teams across different countries and cultures.

  • Strong written and verbal English;

  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across Southern & Western Europe

  • Proficiency with MS Office, EHS reporting tools and ability to learn company-specific systems quickly.

Preferred Qualifications: (nice to have)

  • NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) highly desirable. Additional professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH, CSP, CIH) are desirable.

  • Understanding of European Health and Safety legislations

  • Proficiency in one or more relevant regional languages (e.g., Italian, Spanish, French) is a significant advantage.

 

Language & Travel

  • Required: Native or fluent proficiency in Italian and English (spoken and written) to engage with site teams, regulators and regional stakeholders.

  • Preferred: Conversational or better proficiency in additional European language skills (Spanish, French, Portuguese) are an advantage.

  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel regularly across Southern & Western Europe, (subject to business needs). Travel will include frequent visits within Italy and periodic travel to other EU sites (e.g., France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands).

  • Logistics: Must hold a valid passport for travel within the EU
