Assists in the development and deployment of best-in-class EHS programs, systems and processes. Works with facility leadership and senior EHS professionals in complying with federal, state and local EHS regulations. Uses the EHS strategic plan as a template for continuous improvement of EHS metrics. Helps drive effective, sustainable implementation of corporate and local initiatives. Communicates with regulatory authorities with the assistance of senior EHS professional(s). Maintains an effective communication process with the locations operational and maintenance organizations. Provides training to facility employees and acts a technical EHS resource for site personnel.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist facility leadership with the execution of EHS programs and regulations. May act as the facility radiation safety officer and support site strategic and tactical EHS teams. Typically, responsible for providing guidance on compliance with all relevant OSHA regulatory requirements including confined space entry, lock out/tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, personal protective equipment, and material handling. Conducts audits to ensure OSHA compliance. Participates in incident investigations, develops corrective actions, and enters information into Materion Safety.

  • Provide leadership for the Elmore Emergency Response Team (ERT).  Coordinate off site training as necessary, required to maintain member preparedness and certifications. Develops, deliver, and facilitate ongoing trainings and drills for all ERT members. Maintains records for auditing purposes.  Functions as Incident Commander for the ERT team when on plant site.  Interact with local emergency response organizations to develop positive relationships in the community.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience

  • Required: BS in EHS or a related field and 1-3 years of relative experience

  • or a Master’s degree in EHS or a related field and 0-1 years of relative experience

  • Preferred: A BS degree in a relevant EHS field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required:  Basic knowledge and understanding of EHS principles, practices and equipment to determine if proper methods and procedures are utilized and to assure compliance with Federal, State local and industrial regulations. Performs routine assignments and has a basic understanding of the fundamental EHS theories, practices, and concepts. Develops competence through the execution of structured work assignments. Uses existing processes, methods, and procedures to solve routine problems. Receives guidance and instruction from more senior EHS staff.


 

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
