Job Description

Develop and administer facility Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures and objectives. Foster facility awareness, involvement and accountability of EHS issues to assure full integration of EHS initiatives with business activities. Lead facility activities to minimize company liability and promote sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the Amcor EHS Management System at the facility.
  • Identify and leverage EHS best practices, driving improvement through the Safety and Environmental Pillars of World Class Operations Management (WCOM).
  • Direct facility-level EHS planning, including goal setting, prioritization of needs, and establishing systems for ongoing performance review and improvement.
  • Partner with department managers, supervisors, and employees to implement innovative solutions that enhance safety, reduce environmental impact, and support EHS initiatives.
  • Conduct and coordinate EHS inspections and assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, Amcor EHS programs, and Key Performance Measures (KPM). Provide clear recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare and present EHS performance reports to corporate leadership, facility management, and employees, highlighting progress toward goals and key metrics.
  • Maintain accurate records, data, and documentation required for internal reporting, regulatory submissions, and agency requests. Ensure timely completion of all required reports.
  • Recommend corrective actions and ensure timely follow‑up for issues identified through assessments, inspections, monitoring, or incident reviews.
  • Evaluate new materials and material usage to confirm regulatory compliance, ensure safe handling, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on the design and installation of new or modified equipment and processes to mitigate safety hazards and environmental risks.
  • Provide EHS‑related training and information to ensure employees understand corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote and lead a high‑performance EHS culture, driving accountability and employee engagement.
  • Develop, maintain, implement, and annually review EHS policies and procedures, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Perform and/or coordinate required monitoring activities to verify compliance with EHS regulations and Amcor initiatives.
  • Manage the facility’s incident investigation process, ensuring timely reporting, thorough root cause analysis, and effective closure of corrective actions.
  • Plan, develop, deliver, and coordinate EHS training programs for employees, temporary workers, contractors, and visitors to reinforce a strong safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, engineering, or related field highly preferred
  • A minimum of 5  years of relevant EHS Manufacturing Management level experience
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement, problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and execute projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to comprehend other software programs outside of Microsoft.
  • Has effective presentation and training abilities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with several departments/employees at all levels on a daily basis.
