Reporting to the
Business Title
EH&S Manage the EHS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and executing quality assurance programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new and existing products, with a strong focus on electronics manufacturing and robust server‑grade assemblies.
General Purpose:
Specialized role responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, chemical, energy sources, particularly those exceeding standard voltages, are safely isolated before maintenance or repair. This role combines technical electrical expertise with strict administrative safety protocols (STPS, NFPA 70E, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147) to prevent accidental re-energization, which can cause severe injuries or fatalities in high, medium and low voltage
Principle Accountabilities:
Prepare and implement LOTO procedures for equipment and create switching orders when applicable and Coordinate site LOTO-related activities in the affected work areas with all parties.
Incidents investigation: Participate in investigations of incidents related to LOTO failures
Energy Isolation Verification: Ensuring all high-voltage sources are de-energized, locked, and tagged in compliance with NFPA 70E standards.
Manage permit to work LOTO system: documented authorization (PTW) with physical isolation (LOTO) to prevent accidental startup and protect personnel and Manage permit to work system by LOTO Program
Procedure Development: Writing and reviewing hazardous energy control procedures (procedures for de-energizing high-voltage systems).
Qualified Personnel Assignment: Ensuring that only certified high-voltage electricians (Authorized Employees) manage LOTO for high-voltage systems.
Stored Energy Control: Managing the safe discharge of stored energy (capacitors, transformers).
Safety Audits: Conducting inspections and audits of LOTO procedures to ensure compliance.
Training & Certification: Training authorized and affected personnel on the dangers of high-voltage systems.
Advanced LOTO & Isolation Governance
Complex Tagout Procedures: Unlike 480V systems, 115 kV requires a High Voltage Isolation Plan. As an EHS Engineer, you audit the "Single Line Diagrams" (SLD) to ensure there are no "sneak circuits" or back-feed possibilities from the grid or the cogenerator itself.
Grounding Coordination: Verification that temporary protective grounding is applied after de-energization to protect against induced voltage.
Critical Infrastructure Integrity
The "Must-Have" KPI's for your Role:
Zero Energy Verification (ZEV) audit scores.
PPE Integrity: Recertification logs for high-voltage gloves (tested every 6 months) and hot sticks.

Ability to read, research and interpret safety guidelines, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to read, research and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to acknowledge common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information and acknowledge group questions of managers, customers and vendors. May be required to present to top management.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
NFPA 70E training, Natural Gas Training, ISO 45001/14001 Auditor, ISO 31000 Risk management, Emergency medical certification and Hazmat desired.
Scope / Impact
Creates functional processes. Executes and provides input to functional strategic plans and objectives for site. Impacts the near-term (quarterly/semi-annual) operational success of the function. Demonstrates experience in leading major initiatives and provides input to those initiatives.
