Job Purpose:

As an EHS Compliance Specialist, this individual will ensure the environmental, health, and safety compliance on site through the development, implementation, and maintenance of effective management systems. Incumbent will also ncourage, promote, and monitor the highest levels of EHS performance in line with regulatory and corporate requirements.

The EHS Compliance Specialist primary goal is to protect all employees at the site by ensuring that risks to employees are minimized by implementing strategies and solutions to minimize exposure to harmful elements and conditions.  In addition, the site is following all federal, state, and local regulations including all Haleon related standards. These regulations apply to air, water, soil, waste, and sustainability requirements as they pertain to the site and associated properties. 

Key Responsibilities:

1. EHS Performance & Strategic Alignment

  • Monitor & report EHS performance, connecting shared lessons and good practices within the site and across regional supply chain sites.
  • Ensure that EHS site objectives are established and aligned with the corporate EHS plan and priorities.

2. Incident Management & Risk Control

  • Investigate EHS accidents and high‑potential incidents, collaborating with teams to analyze causes and implement corrective and preventive actions. Promote the integration of human factors and human reliability into risk assessments and system design.
  • Apply in‑depth knowledge of risk management methods to investigate adverse audit or inspection findings and implement actions to close gaps and reduce EHS risks.

3. Governance, Standards & Compliance

  • Maintain strong knowledge of Haleon Policies, Standards, and the Internal Control Framework, integrating them into a holistic site-specific EHS management system.
  • Effectively develop and lead EHS governance forums (EHS Councils, High Severity Risk Programs, EHS Champions, Risk Assessor Forums).
  • Develop and manage robust EHS action‑tracking mechanisms to ensure 100% compliance and closure of all EHS-related actions.

4. Safety Culture & Collaboration

  • Drive a strong safety culture at the site, encouraging and rewarding safe behaviours, and ensuring behavioural safety remains central to site operations.
  • Collaborate with Shared Services/Functions (Quality, Engineering, CI, HR, IT, Procurement, 3rd Parties, etc.) to integrate EHS into site strategy, risk mapping, and business continuity plans.
  • Build relationships and foster collaboration with EHS professionals across other sites and regions to support good practice sharing and capability development.

5. Crisis Management, Business Continuity & Environmental Stewardship

  • Lead the preparation, implementation, and execution of Crisis Management processes, acting calmly and coaching others during critical situations. Ensure strong business continuity and loss‑prevention plans are in place.
  • Ensure an integrated approach to environmental management to reduce the site’s contribution to Haleon’s overall environmental impact.

Skills and Competencies:​

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Sciences, and/or Occupational Safety, with further specialist qualifications to at least Diploma level & preferably to a Master level.
  • 4-5 years’ experience in the EHS Field.
  • Knowledge in the use of EHS tracking databases.
  • Good relationship building and networking, to engage effectively with site personnel, senior management, EHS and Regional leads.
  • Experience in managing EHS risks in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), Pharmaceutical or related high-hazard sector.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) will be preferred.
  • Other related engineering certifications will be preferred.
  • This position requires extensive knowledge of EHS requirements and regulations. Hence any formal education around these requirements is preferred.
