Job Summary: This position plays a critical role in supporting the Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) initiative, with a specific focus on telehealth services, the patient portal, and access to virtual care. Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/18/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. GS-12 Grade Requirements: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Communicate with the OIT/Informatics contact person for the service/service line, ADPACs in other service/service lines, ADPACs at other VAs, and FCIO/CHIO support staff as necessary; Assist OIT/Informatics in planning by anticipating future computer-related/Informatics needs and communicating these to OIT/Informatics; Train SSL staff in the use of all VistA menu options required for their work (if applicable); Cross-train the alternate ADPAC(s) for the Nursing; Conduct and administer training programs including one-on-one, classroom, virtual/online, or other group setting for SSL; Research and recommend new or alternative training sources. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Education and Training: Ability to design, develop, and implement training programs related to EHR, telehealth services, and the patient portal. Experience in educating and supporting users on the effective use of health informatics systems. Health Informatics: Expertise in leveraging Health Informatics to enhance clinical care and operational efficiency. Proficiency in managing health-related data and optimizing its acquisition, usability, and processing. Technology Management: Strong skills in managing and supporting technology systems, particularly in the context of EHR, telehealth, and patient portals. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to health informatics technology and software applications. Project Management: Proven ability to develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables for health informatics initiatives, including telehealth and patient portal projects. Experience in monitoring compliance with project management standards, conducting project audits, and ensuring successful project completion. Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with staff, affiliates, and relevant personnel regarding EHRM initiatives, telehealth services, and patient portals. Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders, including leadership, committees, and end-users. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Preferred Experience: In the last two years - Informatics, Telehealth and MyHealtheVet. Physical Requirements: Performance of the employee's duties may require extensive walking per day to meet with Hospital Pentad Officials, Clinic Leads, Administrative Leads, MAS staff, and other clinic personnel. Trips to satellite outpatient clinics (CBOCs) are sometimes necessary and will involve transportation via station GSA vehicle or privately owned vehicle. The work performed is of a precise nature requiring long periods of concentration that is often interrupted. The employee is often faced with changing priorities and with meeting deadlines.
