Editorial Operations Administrator, Beijing Bureau (EN/CN)

Reuters is looking for a talented Editorial Operations Administrator to support our fast-paced newsroom in Beijing. Working in one of Reuters' largest bureaus, you will ideally have experience in a news agency or major media organisation. 

You will have a proven track record as a team player and be a goal-oriented self-starter with plenty of initiative. As a key member of the Asia Editorial Operations team, you will work closely with senior editors across video, pictures and text to ensure that planning and managing administrative processes are seamlessly handled. Calm and resilient, you will know how to react quickly and efficiently to help meet the needs of our editorial teams. You will also work on projects that span multiple countries and languages.

This is a full-time role that will require an in-office presence for three days per week and will report to the Regional Administrator.

About the Role

In this opportunity as an Editorial Operations Administrator, you will:

  • Support our editorial operations in their daily workflows by establishing and adhering to best practices and providing ad hoc support for the newsroom in a breaking news environment.
  • Take charge of scheduling and the processing of official paperwork for staff, as well as the onboarding of new employees.
  • Work with outside vendors and related departments within Reuters, handling invoices and payment processes, and taking charge of our inventory tool.
  • Manage subscriptions for communications equipment and vehicles and work with facility management on health & safety and maintenance issues.
  • Cooperate with senior editorial management and with other departments, providing regular input on issues facing the newsroom.
  • Plan and coordinate team events and other special events on and off site, and schedule appointments for staff members.
  • Ensure Data Security implementation and monitor data security protocols for physical and digital records, safeguard confidential information, and support compliance with privacy regulations. 

About You

You’re a fit for the role of Editorial Operations Administrator if you have the following required qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational skills and experience in office administration and people management and problem solving, with at least three years of relevant experience. An ability to work under pressure and with great flexibility.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a complex office environment.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, native Mandarin is a must. An ability to work with a team across languages and geographies.
  • Proficiency in Exceladvanced level experience in other MS Office applications.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards and data privacy laws.
