About the Role

This internship is part of the Rising TIDE program. Elsevier created its Rising TIDE internship program to foster inclusion and provide individuals with work experience in the corporate world so that we can develop a pipeline of talent for entry-level individuals for post-graduation opportunities.

The Editorial Assistant Intern supports editors throughout the academic book publishing lifecycle, from early project development through contract preparation. In this role, the intern contributes to research, outreach, and editorial coordination that help shape highquality, globally relevant academic books. This internship provides handson exposure to scholarly publishing workflows, including author and reviewer engagement, datainformed prospecting, and the use of digital and AIenabled tools.

Location: This is a remote or home-based role, open to various locations in the Eastern and Central Time Zones.
Program Dates: June 1, 2026- August 7, 2026
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate students expected to graduate by May 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Support editors with the development of new academic book projects.

  • Research subject matter experts and maintain organized prospect lists.

  • Assist with reviewer and author identification utilizing internal data and analytics tools.

  • Prepare outreach materials and basic correspondence.

  • Help draft and organize standard publishing documents under guidance.

  • Contribute to author recruitment initiatives.

  • Create content for social media to promote new books and highlight key initiatives.

  • Utilize internal digital and AI-enabled tools to support editorial tasks.

Requirements

  • Be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, with a graduation date of May 2027.

  • Showcase a passion for communication, publishing, science, and the dissemination of knowledge.

  •  Display familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel, or have other spreadsheet proficiency or familiarity with structured data.

  • Possess effective communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meet time-critical deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment.

  • Be able to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly and independently.

Salary Range

$28/hour for undergraduate students
$30/hour for graduate students
