About The role
As an in-house Editor-in-Chief, you will oversee the creation and publication of original material for our gold open access journal. You will take ownership of submissions and performing quality peer review to ensure we publish high-quality content. You will build global relationships with experts in the community to disseminate and discuss practice-changing results from the field. You will be able to demonstrate awareness of the breadth of research in this multidisciplinary field.

Responsibilities
Managing the day-to-day editorial handling of papers and peer-review and drive the editorial strategy of The Lancet Digital Health
Direct line management of Deputy and Senior Editor
Developing and maintaining relationships with digital health, clinical, and wider health communities to attract high-quality research for the journal
Attending conferences and events to represent the journal, keeping up to date with current developments and identifying potential topics of interest
Writing editorials and other content for the journal as required
Helping develop new initiatives for future development of the journal
Participate in projects across The Lancet Group and, on occasion, with Elsevier and RELX
Requirements
A Medical Degree in a relevant discipline or a PhD in a related subject field with postdoctoral research experience
Extensive editorial experience, at Editor or other senior level, with a good understanding of all aspects of the editorial process, journal production, and of running an editorial team
Be able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences
Be able to communicate and negotiate constructively with clinical researchers, members of the medical profession, the media, and colleagues
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently to demanding press deadlines
Excellent command of the English language and the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner
Proficient with IT systems including MS Office
