Nursing Assistant II

Part-Time I Second Shift (24 hours)

Emergency Department I Lexington, KY


An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.

 Description:

  • The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and coordination of patient care/department flow.
  • Working knowledge of appropriate computer functions and systems for assigned duties.
  • Maintains work area to ensure efficient operation and workflow.
  • Collects, process, transports and analyzes specimens according to approved standards of testing per laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in patient care, according to hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year clinical classes in nursing school and validation of a clinical consistent with level of education.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
  • Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
  • Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
