POSITION OVERVIEW 

Are you passionate about research and economic dissemination? Do you have the ability to make numbers and data talk and create a narrative with them? If yes, we have more than one position open at the moment.

The Advisor, Economic Research is actively involved preparing economic research to support BDCs operations. The position supports senior leaders with presentations and collaborates actively with other economists on a variety of macroeconomic and microeconomic research.

 

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Supporting the Chief Economist and Director of Research with internal and external presentations. This includes gathering the content and suggesting the storyline and flow of presentations

  • Assisting the macro team in forecasting key economic indicators based on market data, third party research and newsworthy developments

  • Conducting economic research, both at a macro and micro level, in order to guide entrepreneurs and SMEs in their investment decisions

  • Collaborating with other members of the Economic Research team on various projects

  • Develop research reports on a variety of economic and entrepreneurial topics.

The ideal Candidate must have a keen sense of the business environment in order to identify topics of interest for research. With his/her autonomy and great curiosity, the Candidate will be able to develop a research project from start to finish.

 WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Master’s degree in economics or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in microeconomic research and/or economic research reporting

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian sectors and industries, including Statistics Canada / CANSIM data

  • Solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to translate ambiguous requests into clear research questions

  • Experience preparing research memos, briefings, and PowerPoint presentations for diverse audiences

  • Interest or experience in research dissemination / economic communication

  • Familiarity with microeconomic research methods (survey experience is an asset)

  • Fluent in both official language (written and spoken)
