The Economic Analyst will contribute to original research projects at the Labor Market Intelligence Center by creating data analyses for higher education research topics such as financial barriers to access, and success of
Dallas College students, the return on investment after graduation, and economic impact on Dallas County economy and workforce needs. The incumbent will conduct background research and support the construction or
selection of quantitative protocols including econometrics for current and future projects. The Economic Analyst will conduct analysis and translate findings for inclusion in publications through multiple channels and for
supporting internal and external stakeholder decisions and actions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members to design and carry out original research in graduates return on investment, employer needs assessment, Dallas area workforce needs; and econometrics related to the impact of Dallas College locally, regionally, and nationally.
Conduct background research – literature reviews, exploratory data analysis, subject expert interviews, e.g. – to inform the design of original research using quantitative methodologies
Support the process of writing quantitative research protocols
Apply research findings to support decision-making processes and change initiatives across the College and affiliated partner organizations
Analyze quantitative data generated by background research and outputs of original research
Participate in the authorship of reports of research findings to be disseminated to internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of driving action and informing policy
Required Dallas College Professional Development Hours per Academic Year. (MUST BE INCLUDED)
All employees are required to complete a minimum of 19 hours.
People leaders are required an additional 16 hours of leadership development.
Perform other duties not listed as assigned. (MUST BE INCLUDED)
The following duties are required for People Leader roles specifically:
Exercises full discretion and decision-making authority in the recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development & termination of staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, budgetary constraints, and workforce planning strategies.
Drive high performance by administering the performance management process timely, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
Minimum and Preferred – Education, Experience, and/or Certifications
Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)
Bachelor’s degree in economics, social science, or education with coursework in statistics, research design and quantitative methodology or related discipline
Master’s degree preferred.
Official transcripts required.
One (1) year of experience working with quantitative methods, statistical analyses, econometrics, and research in higher education
Expertise in quantitative research methods and data analysis
Other Preferred Qualifications for Role (not mandatory, but advantageous)
Bilingual or multilingual preferred

Required Qualifications for Role (necessary or mandatory)
Expertise with quantitative methods for economic analysis
Experience with statistical analysis software
Experience in technical writing for publication
Knowledge of best practices in data presentation and visualization
Experience supporting the production of research reports for a variety of purposes and stakeholder audiences
Experience with constructing, managing, interacting with, and analyzing large data sets
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of diverse stakeholders through multiple channels
