CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Manager, Research Support leads the research program teams to ensure successful system implementation and upgrades. Specifically, the Senior Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and resources of research staff and supports programs for their growth and development.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Conducts meetings with research staff and ensures functions are coordinated in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Provides technical support and resolves operational problems.
3. Oversees department budget and identifies areas of opportunity for cost reduction.
4. Assists in the preparation and publication of manuscripts.
5. Recruits and trains research staff and prepares performance reports and disciplinary recommendations for the leadership team.
6. Analyzes reports, data briefs, and auxiliary publications for new topic modules.
7. Defines and produces indicators for a data visualization platform.
8. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required

JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Manages daily operations of the ECHO study to ensure efficient execution of research
activities and adherence to study timelines.
2. Supervises research staff, including research assistants and coordinators, to support
participant recruitment, retention, and follow-up activities.
3. Oversees staff scheduling, site coverage, and assignment of responsibilities to ensure
appropriate support across clinical and study locations.
4. Coordinates participant-facing activities, including recruitment, communication, visit
scheduling, and retention efforts.
5. Monitors operational workflows and identifies inefficiencies, implementing solutions to
improve consistency and performance.
6. Collaborates with the Director of Research Operations to align day-to-day activities
with study goals and priorities.
7. Coordinates communication across research staff, clinical partners, and operational
teams to ensure continuity of study activities.
8. Oversees operational coordination of participant compensation processes in
collaboration with financial personnel, ensuring accurate tracking and workflow
alignment.
9. Supports implementation of study protocols and operational procedures in accordance
with institutional and regulatory requirements.
10. Facilitates training and onboarding of research staff to ensure understanding of study
workflows, protocols, and expectations.
11. Maintains operational documentation, schedules, and tracking systems to support study
execution and reporting.
12. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University
assets.
13. Ordering of participant incentives and oversight of team and participant events.
14. Assurance of fulfillment of study completion activities from subordinates.


DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
1. Study Operations Management
• Manage day-to-day execution of ECHO study activities, ensuring alignment with study
timelines and operational requirements
• Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-up activities across clinical
and community sites
• Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and resource allocation to support study operations
2. Staff Supervision and Coordination
• Directly supervise research assistants and operational staff supporting the ECHO study
• Assign responsibilities and monitor performance to ensure completion of study-related
tasks
• Provide training, guidance, and support to research staff to maintain consistency in study
execution
3. Participant Engagement and Retention
• Oversee participant communication strategies, including outreach, reminders, and follow-
up activities
• Support implementation of retention strategies to maintain participant engagement
throughout the study lifecycle
• Ensure participant interactions are conducted in accordance with study protocols and
standards
4. Operational Workflow Oversight
• Monitor and maintain operational workflows to ensure efficiency and consistency across
study functions
• Identify operational gaps and implement process improvements in coordination with
leadership
• Maintain tracking systems for recruitment, visits, and participant status
5. Financial and Compensation Coordination
• Oversee coordination of participant compensation processes in collaboration with
financial personnel
• Ensure documentation and tracking of compensation activities are accurate and compliant
• Monitor workflow between study operations and financial processing to prevent delays or
discrepancies
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
• Coordinate activities across clinical, laboratory, data, and compliance functions to
support study execution
• Facilitate communication between operational teams and leadership to ensure alignment
• Support implementation of study changes, protocol updates, and operational adjustments
