Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day application support for Dynamics 365 Business Central in conjunction with our third party vendors.
Deliver Business Central change and impro365vement work, including planning, coordination of testing, release management, and communications to minimise disruption.
Contribute to solution design for Business Central changes, ensuring configurations and approaches align with agreed standards and are reviewed/approved through the appropriate governance.
Administer permissions and security, including user access requests, security roles, least-privilege access, and investigation/resolution of access issues, escalating higher-risk changes for approval.
Manage and resolve complex system issues impacting business operations within the Business Central environment.
Coordinate system maintenance activities and vendor-provided updates (including scheduling, communications, and validation) to help keep the platform secure and supported.
Support backup/restore and recovery activities (as applicable within the cloud/service model) by following documented procedures, coordinating with partners, and validating outcomes.
Support compliance and audits by maintaining evidence, controls, and documentation relating to Business Central access, changes, and operational processes.
Work with third parties to log and escalate issues, coordinate releases, and progress enhancements through to completion, maintaining clear ways of working.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate needs into system changes, and ensure the ERP solution continues to meet business needs.
Develop and maintain user and support documentation, including processes, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Provide training, guidance, and support to end users to improve adoption and effective usage of Business Central.
Monitor system performance and usage, producing reports and recommendations for optimisation.
Liaise with vendors and third parties for issue resolution and system enhancements.
Support budgeting and spend activities for the Business Central service by tracking costs, providing inputs to forecasts, and flagging variances or licensing considerations to the relevant owner.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong functional and technical understanding of Dynamics 365 Business Central, including core modules and configuration.
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues, using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
Security mindset with experience administering roles/permissions and applying least-privilege access principles.
Ability to work effectively with third-party partners, including clear ticketing/escalations, follow-through, and coordination to agreed timelines.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and user support/training capability.
Documentation discipline: ability to create and maintain clear operational procedures and knowledge articles.
Understanding of controls, compliance needs, and audit evidence expectations in ERP environments.
Organised and reliable under pressure, able to balance BAU support with change activity.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience supporting and maintaining Dynamics 365 Business Central in a production environment.
Experience administering user access, permissions, and security within Business Central.
Experience delivering ERP changes/projects (e.g., enhancements, rollouts, integrations) and coordinating stakeholders through testing and release.
Experience working with third-party support/implementation partners, including raising tickets, managing escalations, and coordinating delivery of fixes and enhancements.
Desirable: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification(s).
Desirable: project management experience and/or exposure to process improvement methodologies.
