Management Level Definition:

Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses digital tools and insights to build targeted sales pipeline and forecast data driven sales activities.
  • Builds understanding of the breadth of HPE products, solutions & service offerings - their value propositions, competitive differentiators, how they fit in an Anything as a Service (XaaS) world and benefits to our customers. Integrates this knowledge with technology trends, industry knowledge, and most importantly to identify and build solutions resulting in relevant customer outcomes.
  • Develops the account, territory, or partner co-selling plan and provides in-depth recommendation for mid to complex solutions.
  • Develops understanding of the partner ecosystem and different types of partners as well as the value of partnering for both HPE sales and partners. Integrates this knowledge into outcomes-based sales engagement efforts.
  • Reviews and provides new leads to drive higher sales opportunities and closure and may take part in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Uses in-depth knowledge of company's portfolio of products and services to competitively position HPE to meet the needs of the customer and drive new business or expanded footprint and/or ensure retention.
  • Autonomously creates an accurate forecast based on assignment.
  • Understands market and customer business drivers to position HPE solutions to meet the needs and drive customer retention. Also applies customer feedback HPE solutions knowledge and sales methodologies (i.e., Challenger) to maximize impactful stakeholder engagement and influence customer buying decisions.
  • Develops an open and authentic mindset and credibility, exerting a positive influence over others, and contributing to the success of the whole organization. Leads teams (including dispersed & indirect team members) successfully through sales engagements in a complex matrix organization.
  • Consistently delivers business results through disciplined usage of sales methodologies, tools, processes; engaging and influencing customers and partners to prospect and qualify opportunities, formulate, and propose solutions aligned to business need, and negotiate and close deals.
  • Collaborates with marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns and messaging for the specialized segment.
  • Conducts in-depth research on market trends, competition, and customer needs within the specialized area.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and provides training and guidance to other sales team members.

Education and Experience Required:

  • University or bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience. IT or Sales education, advanced degree, or MBA desired.
  • 6+ years account management experience.
  • Industry experience is highly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced sales orientation and understanding of sales process.
  • Advanced account management, acquisition, retention, and development skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of company's portfolios of products and services.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT and/or industry solutions, products, and services to solve business challenges.
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Depending on role, may require hunter approach or strategic ""farmer or relationship"" selling approach.
  • Advanced knowledge in a Customer Relationship Management system or Salesforce system which allows businesses to manage business relationships and the data and information associated with them.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and lead meetings with high-level members of the customer organization (potentially including C-level).
  • Demonstrated customer Project Management skills.
