Job Summary
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services in support of program and operational activities. The role includes ensuring full compliance with Kenya traffic regulations and NTSA requirements, maintaining assigned vehicles in excellent working condition, and upholding the organization’s transport and safety policies.
Key Responsibilities
Safely transport staff, partners, and authorized visitors to official assignments.
Ensure strict adherence to NTSA regulations, traffic laws, and organizational transport policies.
Observe defensive driving principles at all times to ensure passenger and road safety.
Conduct daily vehicle inspections (fuel, oil, coolant, brake fluid, tyre pressure, lights, battery, etc.) before departure.
Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle (interior and exterior) at all times.
Coordinate timely requisitioning for vehicle servicing and repairs
Immediately report accidents, breakdowns, traffic offences, or security incidents in accordance with organizational procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date trip logs, fuel records, and vehicle checklists in compliance with organizational requirements.
Assist with loading and unloading project materials and equipment.
Provide logistical support during field activities, workshops, and meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Valid Kenyan Driving License (Class B, C, E or equivalent).
Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, development partner, or reputable organization.
Valid Defensive Driving Certificate from an NTSA-accredited institution (added advantage).
Valid First Aid Certificate (added advantage).
Clean driving record with no major traffic offences.
Good knowledge of Western Kenya road networks, particularly in the Nyamira and Kisii regions.
Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to detect vehicle faults.
