This driver role supports our Children's Hospital Ronald McDonald care mobile program. The driver will assist in transporting the clinical team to and from school site within the Chicagoland area- mostly South focus. However, driver may assist with North care mobile coverage to North Chicagoland areas as needed. Hours include Monday-Friday with flexibility in morning start times between 7am-9am depending on school visit schedule, drive location or weather conditions.

Pay Range

$22.50 - $33.75

Major Responsibilities: A safe environment is monitored and maintained according to license and organizational policy and procedures. 3)Reports safety events via organizational procedures as well as to program coordinator. 4)Utilizes appropriate emergency resources as directed (for vehicle accidents or client incidents). 5)Assists in the transport of patients on and off the mobile care unit (both wheelchair lift and on the main stairs). 6)Assists with the daily and routine maintenance tasks of the mobile care unit. 1)Accountable for transporting team members and mobile care unit to and from client sites. 2)Establishes and maintains a safe environment for all clients within the mobile care unit by wearing seatbelts, operating vehicles safely and obeying rules of the road. Assists with mobile care unit operation, as well as maintenance oversight of the program's mobile health vans. 1)Organizes and transports supplies and materials at direction of team members. 2)Ensure mobile care unit clean and organized before and after site visit. 3)Fills in as a driver for alternate care mobile sites as needed. 4)Works with program coordinator to find and schedule driver coverage. Involved in appropriate maintenance functions of the mobile care unit and program's mobile health vans. 1)Schedules and delivers van for service and routine maintenance. 2)Monitors and maintains appropriate fuel and vehicle fluid levels. 3)Assists other staff in with "end of the day" tasks i.e. waste disposal and equipment maintenance. 4)Ensures mobile care unit exterior is clean and functional 5)Maintains maintenance log Attends to patient check-in, and any health/safety related screenings. 1)Patient check-in and assisting patients on van to be seen by clinical team. 2)Registration and consent completions. Computer training will be provided. 3)Attend to any health/safety screening mandated by State or Hospital policy/protocol. Education/Experience Required: High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year previous experience in driving large vehicles. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Organization, planning and time management skills. Problem resolution skills. Courteous and professional interpersonal skills. Good communication skills. Requires ability to communicate factual information in an emergency situation. Current CPR Certification. (will provide upon hire) Valid Illinois State driver's license which is monitored annually. Illinois CDL class B license with passenger endorsement. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Knowledgeable regarding preventative vehicle maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot vehicle problems onsite and communicate to automotive service provider. Outdoor environment where work requires exposure to various weather conditions. Ability to accompany students to and from school to mobile health unit. If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
