Regional Disaster Assistance Program (RDAP) is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Driver/Messenger in San Jose, Costa Rica The Driver/Messenger will be responsible for providing reliable transportation and messenger services to staff at the WHA Office in San Jose, Costa Rica, with safe transport of staff and documents as a top priority. The Driver/Messenger demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drive program staff to destinations, arriving safely, following safety protocol, and ensuring staff and guest compliance to safety protocol while in the vehicle
- Conduct daily checks to ensure vehicle cleanliness, functionality, and safety
- Check and timely report on vehicle licenses and permits
- Ensure that transportation vehicle has necessary equipment e.g. spare tire, tool box, first aid kit and other safety vehicle accessories
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets including the logbook, fuel records and refills, staff transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records
- Timely report any vehicle faults or repairs needed and fill out an appropriate report
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the situation or supervisor
- Communicate constantly with the team regarding vehicle movement, maintenance and repair needs, and suggestions for improved transportation processes.
- Remain flexible and will sometimes be required to work inconsistent hours and/or weekends.
- Ensures prompt and accurate delivery of mail/documents and deliver documents to the courier companies and other locations as required.
- Perform any other related activities as specified by supervisor
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be able to work-day shift, night shift or weekend duty if requested.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English Level 4 minimum required, Level 5 preferred.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Clean driving record and ability to demonstrate safe driving techniques with knowledge of driving rules and regulations
- Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
