This role is open to Remote within the United States. Travel to Irvine, CA may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead cross-functional integration efforts to meet crash safety metrics, ensuring  alignment of technical objectives and timing across all functional groups.
  • Create development vehicle crash development plans from scratch, including  defining the process and resources needed to execute test plans early in a program.
  • Support the design and release of Steering Wheel, Airbags, Seatbelts. Experience  with developing components in-house like brackets, emblems, bezels, switches is a plus.
  • Create and execute DVP&R process with restraints components.
  • Support the design and release of the restraints control system, including packaging  of sensors and ECU, requirements gathering for software and calibration, and integration management of all effected cross-functional teams.
  • Develop integration requirements to align safety attributes to design.
  • Manage all safety integration activities, clearly identifying risks and efficiently  resolving issues cascaded from program management, vehicle engineering,  packaging, or other DRE teams.
  • Coordinate all activities related to execution of system level safety tests, including  part procurement, lab onboarding and preparation, and onsite support at lab for tests. Types of test include: FMVSS 200-series, dynamic sled,
  • Experience with BiW design optimization or countermeasures to meet crash requirements.
  • Support implementation of crash safety development processes within the program  development system.
  • Develop pre and post-test templates for vehicle crash test and execution to  document critical and useful information during test setups.
  • Familiarity with sourcing processes required to onboard suppliers and test labs to  execute safety testing.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in automotive safety, vehicle testing, or safety integration.
  • Design development and production launch experience of any or all restraints  components at OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
  • Development of a crash control system with heavy integration with electrical, software, and systems teams. Packaging of sensor and ECU components is a plus.
  • Experience conducting full vehicle crash tests onsite at test labs.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP, and other automotive safety  protocols.
  • Proficiency in CAD design, CATIA V6 preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other engineering teams.
  • Ability to excel in a startup environment.
  • Ability to articulate engineering status or results to executive leadership.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • CAE/Simulation experience a plus

Salary:

  • $90,000-95,000
  • The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
