In the Downstream Sales Specialist role, you will lead revenue growth for strategic products—such as monolith chromatography and tangential flow filtration—across the cell and gene therapy market. Success in this role requires actively managing key accounts, uncovering new business opportunities, and building strong customer partnerships supported by deep technical expertise.

With a clear focus on (early) seeding activities the goal is to successfully implement new strategic products into the cell and gene therapy market to achieve Sartorius group sales target for the specified products or product group. The Downstream Sales Specialist will work in a strong collaboration with Commercial Development Manager & Field Application Services, to manage the Opportunity lifecycle. In this role you will be responsible for covering MA, NY, and CT. The majority of our customers are located in the Greater Boston area.

You must be located within a commutable distance to Boston, MA.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Promote the organization's downstream purification products and services within an assigned geographic area, product range or key account to achieve sales and revenue targets, in close alignment with commercial development managers.
  • Actively use SFDC to manage and document leads and opportunities, all customer interactions and sales activities ensuring that all customer and opportunity information is up-to-date and accurately entered in the CRM system
  • Achieve ATS product / product group Spec Win targets.  Actively design ATS products and services in the (pre)clinical to commercial manufacturing process of cell/gene-therapy and DNA/RNA therapeutics.
  • Provide technical and commercial support to Commercial Development Manager and customers in relevant products and processes
  • Develop and execute a territory growth plan in collaboration with commercial development managers.
  • Identify, pursue, and convert new business opportunities using strategic planning and available resources.
  • Travel within your territory (up to 50%) to visit customers and attend trade shows.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers and key stakeholders, including scientists, researchers, and executives.
  • Collaborate across teams to grow shared accounts and increase overall company sales.
  • Coordinate and participate in marketing activities in assigned territory
  • Actively drive newly launched innovative products and services into the marketplace and proactively follow up on the successful implementation of sales activity
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

What will convince us:

  • B.S. in Life Sciences or Engineering is required (higher level of education would be beneficial) with relevant technical knowledge and extensive industry knowledge (eg. Biotech, Pharma, etc.)

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the cell & gene therapy market, with preferable laboratory / process-based experience using Monolith chromatography and TFF.  Knowledge of LNPs is a plus. 

  • Minimum 1 year of customer facing experience, with preferable sales or public speaking experience

  • Hands-on knowledge and proactive usage of SFDC and other CRM tools

  • Must reside in a commutable distance to Boston

    Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated, energetic, results oriented, capacity to work independently with a strong sense of responsibility

  • Good teamwork skills and proven ability to also work with cross-functional teams

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Proven software skills, e.g. Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel

Salary range is $105,000-$125,000 (depending on experience, skill set, and education), plus a 30% Sales incentive plan, and a car allowance.
