About You and this Role:
 

Dow is seeking a driven individual to participate in our Spring 2026 EH&S Practicum Program! This opportunity is located at our Fort Saskatchewan facility in Alberta, Canada.  
 

As a member of our Practicum Program, you will have the opportunity to gain experience working alongside our EH&S technicians within our four world-scale production units that manufacture hydrocarbons, ethylene, polyethylene, and electricity!
 

If selected, we anticipate a four-month commitment from May – August 2026.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in achieving facility EH&S goals.
  • Ensure that the EH&S aspects of facility operating discipline and management systems are adequate and applied to achieve performance goals.
  • Implement detailed, task level, day-to-day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
  • Act as the facility resource or subject matter expert for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Actively coach teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities or EH&S issues that arise during the execution of tasks.
  • Perform / coordinate certain environmental, IH and reactive chemical monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the facility.
  • Coordinate the schedules for assessments and audits in EH&S related areas
  • As required conduct and document investigations of incidents and ensure follow-up actions to prevent re-occurrences are addressed.

Qualifications:

  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Currently enrolled or have completed Occupational Health and Safety Diploma Program.
  • Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee; therefore, students must be able to secure their own reliable transportation.
  • A class 5 driver's license.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.

Must be willing and able to meet the physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator and face coverings.
