Job Description: Domain Administrator – Manufacturing IT Operations
This is an outstanding opportunity to join Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. as part of our Center of Excellence (COE) in Hyderabad, India, as a GxP Domain Administrator – Manufacturing IT Operations. You will work in a dynamic, regulated environment to ensure secure, highly available, and compliant IT infrastructure supporting manufacturing and laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
Domain, Server & Infrastructure Administration
- Administer and manage Active Directory domains, user accounts, group policies, DNS/DHCP, permissions, and authentication services.
- Design, deploy, configure, and support server infrastructure across On-Premises, Virtualized (VMware/Hyper-V), and Cloud environments (IaaS/PaaS).
- Manage Windows and Linux servers across enterprise, laboratory, and manufacturing environments.
- Configure and support high availability (HA) architectures, including clustering, failover, load balancing, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Plan and manage Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure, including storage provisioning, performance tuning, backups, and replication.
Laboratory & Manufacturing Systems Infrastructure Support
- Develop, support, and maintain server architectures for Laboratory Systems, including:
- LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems)
- CDS (Chromatography Data Systems)
- SDMS (Scientific Data Management Systems)
- eLN (Electronic Laboratory Notebooks)
- Provide infrastructure support for Manufacturing and OT Systems, including:
- MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
- DCS (Distributed Control Systems)
- Serialization Systems
- Historian Systems
- EMS (Environmental Monitoring Systems)
- Collaborate with application owners, vendors, OT engineers, and quality teams to ensure system availability, performance, data integrity, and regulatory compliance (GxP).
Legacy Operating Systems & Platform Support
- Provide expert-level support for legacy operating systems required by manufacturing and laboratory systems.
- Lead and execute upgrade, remediation, migration, or isolation strategies for end-of-life platforms while ensuring validated state and business continuity.
- Maintain security hardening, patching strategies, documentation, and risk assessments for legacy environments.
IT Service Management & Automation
- Perform server lifecycle management activities using ServiceNow, including:
- Incident, problem, change, and asset management
- Automation of server provisioning, patching, monitoring, and compliance activities
- Ensure adherence to ITIL/ITSM processes, change control, and validation documentation requirements.
Security, IT/OT Segregation & Network Management
- Manage servers in highly secured environments, aligned with corporate cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
- Design and enforce IT and OT network segmentation, ensuring isolation between enterprise IT, laboratory, and manufacturing/OT networks.
- Configure, manage, and support firewalls, VLANs, routing rules, and access control policies.
- Implement and manage VPN solutions and secure remote access for internal users, external vendors, and OEMs.
- Ensure systems follow best practices for cybersecurity, protecting IT and OT environments from internal and external threats, including:
- Hardening, patching, antivirus/EDR
- Least-privilege access
- Monitoring, logging, and audit readiness
- Vulnerability remediation and risk mitigation
Monitoring, Backup & Business Continuity
- Monitor server health, capacity, performance, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions for critical manufacturing and laboratory systems.
- Support business continuity planning (BCP) and periodic DR testing.
Collaboration & Global Support
- Work closely with application teams, OT teams, quality, cybersecurity, and global IT partners.
- Provide advanced technical support and root-cause analysis for domain, OS, infrastructure, and security-related issues.
- Participate in global IT initiatives, infrastructure modernization projects, and compliance audits.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor of Engineering (BE) or B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
- Experience:
- 10–14 years of overall IT infrastructure experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry
- Proven experience supporting GxP-regulated manufacturing and laboratory environments
