Job Summary:

This position provides support to the lab’s customers by documenting testing details and results to capture for future reference and support design and process projects as well as perform some textile goods testing. Provides support to the lab by maintaining the controlled documents and the procurement of all departmental consumable items and equipment that does not warrant an R&A. This role will also be responsible for assisting the lab technicians in set-up for mechanical and physical testing to predetermined specifications.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates and maintains both current and obsolete copies of all documents pertaining to the Lab Quality System (i.e. Quality Manual, Procedures, Forms, Approved Supplier List, Master List, Internal & External Standards, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the filing system for all quality system documentation to maintain records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Supports biannual asset inventory including the identification and removal of damaged assets, lab customer service surveys and complaint forms
  • Maintains calibration log and scheduling for calibrated equipment, including external maintenance for machinery for the lab and engineering
  • Establishes and maintains competency of all related industry and internal test standards applicable to products of the Company’s Incorporated and its subsidiaries. This includes maintaining an understanding of all internal standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains and supports development of internal database for testing procedures, standards (internal and external), incorporate products and its results.
  • Communicates internally regarding industry standards and externally to the company’s accreditation body.
  • Provides administrative support within the department including the maintenance of training matrices, training records and usage of the department credit card.
  • Purchases all raw materials and supplies for the Test Lab, metal shop and Engineering
  • Safely executes and record testing on all the Company’s Incorporated purchased and manufactured products as required (i.e. textiles, flexible polyurethane foam, fasteners, mechanisms, frames, electrical actuators, etc.). 
  • Completes formal lab reports with all appropriate documentation for retention.

SCOPE & IMPACT: 

Supports the Test Lab in creating, recording, and communicating objective, repeatable empirical data to validate or verify product specifications while ensuring compliance to ISO 17025 accreditation b A2LA

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High School Diploma or GED, 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & Project),
  • Experience with general lab safety.
  • Experience with lab process controls (ISO 17025)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 2+ years direct experience in technical writing and document control
  • Proficient in the use of measurement tools (i.e. micrometer, calipers, gage pins, CMM, etc.).
  • Some familiarity with furniture construction, textiles, or small electronic products.

Often required to sit, repetitive hand motion (such as typing), hear, listen, talk, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, balance, reach overhead, crawl, pill, push and lift – up to 50 pounds.
