Job Summary
Under direct supervision, completes the assigned daily work including Performing installation, operation of water purification equipment, water storage and distribution operations May explain instructions and documentation to plan work activities. Help coordinate movement of materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Controls treatment plant machines and equipment to purify and clarify water for human consumption and for industrial use.
- Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of water into treating plants.
- Adds specified amounts of chemicals into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
- Turn valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
- Pump purified water into water mains.
- Monitors panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates and distribution of water.
- Cleans tanks and filter beds. Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
- Tests water samples. Records data such as residual content of chemicals and water pressure.
- The ROWPU Operator maintains and repairs water storage and distribution systems, using hand and power tools and testing instruments,
Basic Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required
- 3+ years’ experience as a water treatment plant operator.
- Water Treatment Level 1 and Distribution Level 1 Operator accredited Certification from Navy, ABC or State side License OR should be in Position to obtain them within 6months after passing the test (up to 3 Trials)
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Must possess a passport book (not a passport card) with at least 12 months of remaining validity and 4 blank visa/stamp pages.
- You must hold a valid driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
