This is a newly created role to lead our Regional Wholesalers (RVP) in the IMO space with our Annuity Specialized Distribution team.

This role will work out of our downtown Columbus, OH location.

This is an H.99 band role.

As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the sales efforts within the IMO space delivering growth and achieving sales targets. This role will be critical to managing relationships with key IMO partners and will be tasked with executing sales strategies, building strong relationships with wholesalers, financial professionals and centers of influence.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute the national IMO annuity distribution strategy, aligned with enterprise growth, market expansion, and profitable, sustainable revenue objectives.

  • Identify and capitalize on market opportunities to increase annuity reach, competitive positioning, and market share across IMO channels.

  • Provide strategic input on annuity product design, pricing, services, and distribution enhancements, leveraging IMO, producer, and field intelligence.

  • Ensure effective territory and channel alignment to maximize growth while minimizing disruption across distribution systems.

  • Own national IMO annuity sales performance, including production targets, pipeline management, forecasting, and key performance metrics.

  • Set expectations and drive accountability for regional wholesaling teams, monitoring progress and recommending course corrections as needed.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Annuity IMO Regional Wholesalers, establishing standards for sales effectiveness, relationship management, and field execution.

  • Foster a performance-oriented culture focused on accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and talent development, including onboarding and succession planning.

  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with key IMOs and top producers, driving long-term partnerships, repeat business, and expanded engagement.

  • Represent Nationwide with visible leadership in the field, including IMO events, producer meetings, conferences, seminars, and other high-impact activities.

  • Coordinate closely with internal partners (product, marketing, operations, compliance, licensing, and specialists) to deliver seamless IMO support, cross-selling opportunities, and issue resolution.

  • Provide governance, oversight, and executive reporting, including General Agency Agreements, licensing coordination, structured follow-up processes, and consolidated performance insights.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned. 

Reporting Relationships: Reports to VP.

Typical Skills and Experiences: 

Education: Undergraduate degree in business, sales, finance, management or related field preferred. Graduate degree desired. 

License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6/7, 26/24, and 63 are required.

Experience: 10 or more years of experience in annuity distribution, wholesaling, or financial services sales, with significant IMO exposure preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Deep understanding of annuity products, distribution economics, and regulatory environment. Proven record of driving sales growth, building relationships, and executing strategy at scale. Strategic thinking and execution. Sales leadership and performance management. Executive-level relationship building. Talent development and coaching. Financial and business acumen. Influence across matrixed organizations. Accountability, resilience, and results orientation. Proven ability to foster and cultivate relationships.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.

Working Conditions: Combination working remotely from home and travel to the assigned region as well as the home office. Significant travel up to 50% required. Must have a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record in accordance with Nationwide standards.
