Role Description

  • The team is part of the Team ‘Business Risk & Controls (BRC)’.  The PB BRC guards the “Protect” agenda by overseeing non-financial risks, conduct & control topics and regulatory changes.
  • The team works across global PB franchise delivering complex key risk and control agenda, adding value for the Business to reduce complexity and enhance controls. The team works with cross-functional and global teams, collaborating with multiple stakeholders globally across the bank.

Divisional Risk and Control is responsible for non-financial risk and control management for the relevant operating Division or Infrastructure function or Dedicated Central Control Unit for the bank. Work includes:

  • Defining the risk management framework for Financial Crime Risk (FCR).
  • All Control activities and respective procedures, severing as the gate keeper of relevant information and output to enable Financial Crime Risk (FCR) management oversight.  
  • Controls Oversight and Maintaining operational control and discipline across the organizational unit.
  • Ensuring that business is conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and in adherence to the bank's internal policies.
  • Providing thought-leadership around business specific risk taxonomies, assessment methodologies, process and control Implementation and a consolidated view of non-financial risks.
  • Controls Inventory and Quality Assurance - Developing, and own and manage the FCR Controls inventory including any related testing.
  • Deliver Risk and Control Assessment reviews and coordinating execution of risk and control self-assessment (RCSA) process, as may be required.
  • Developing process and procedures to report on, manage, and mitigate risks to acceptable levels.
  • Oversee procedures developed by first line and develop procedure update approach which includes stakeholder engagement, reporting, and relevant training.
  • Executing certain risk-related processes and draft first line risk procedures (e.g. product reviews, issue capture, regulatory change management, vendor management etc.).
  • Coordinate with a diverse set of stakeholders across 1LOD and 2LOD to help completion of FCR tasks and activities and maintain effective partnerships within DCO, COO colleagues & Infrastructure partners.
  • Driving messaging and information from second line to first line (e.g., policies, procedures, training) and act as policy and procedure single point of contact to all booking centres.
  • Developing sustainable performance culture, whilst assuring strategy alignment among various organizational levels and contribute to the development and build know-how within the team.

Your key responsibilities

Controls Oversight and Controls Inventory-

  • All Control activities and oversee respective procedures, severing as the gate keeper of relevant information and output to enable financial crime risk management oversight.  
  • Support the production and delivery of monthly Non-Financial Risk materials, reports and MI at Global and Regional Level
  • Responsible to run the process to collate the relevant metrics and MI within the remit of the team and assist in designing and improving/ automating the processes in areas of responsibility
  • Document and maintain various policies, manuals and internal procedures pertaining to non-Financial topics as may be required in the function.
  • Develop subject matter expertise on non-financial risk and controls within the remit of the team
  • Oversight/support in execution of non-financial risk topics including RCA topics

Advisory

  • Coordinate with a diverse set of stakeholders across 1LOD and 2LOD to help completion of FCR tasks and activities and maintain effective partnerships within DCO, COO colleagues & Infrastructure partners
  • Ensure that any sensitive issues are escalated promptly with sound analysis and recommendations
  • Close cooperation with various BR&C stakeholders, primarily in Europe (focus: Germany)

Your skills and experience

Education & Experience

  • Knowledge of non-financial risks and controls
  • Proven experience of working with risk and controls processes
  • Relevant experience in the Retail Banking / Private Banking sector or experience in financial services or consultancy (with Private Banking experience preferred but not essential)
  • Experience working on small to medium scale projects within global environment.
  • University degree

Competencies

  • Very strong analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs; e.g. Excel , Word and PowerPoint
  • Automation projexts experience, skills using Co-pilot/ AI
  • Ability to work in crunch situations
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and relationship skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present supported topics
  • Excellent command of the English language (written and spoken skills)
  • Strong work ethic, commitment to excel and proven capacity to work effectively with limited supervision
