Divisional Risk Advisor

The Divisional Risk Advisor is responsible for providing risk oversight, guidance and assurance services to enterprise and divisional stakeholders based on the organization’s operational and strategic risk framework. You play a critical part in identifying, assessing and mitigating risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards and enhancing overall risk management practices. As a Risk Advisor, you collaborate closely with business units to implement risk management strategies, optimize control frameworks and provide thought leadership on emerging risk trends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert risk guidance, oversight, and assurance services to enterprise and divisional partners, ensuring alignment with the organization's operational and strategic risk framework.

  • Manage the effectiveness and efficiency of risk management within the business by setting measurable goals and continuously improving risk assessment standards and mitigation strategies.

  • Lead the development and execution of short- and long-term risk management strategies, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with business teams to identify potential risks, optimize process efficiency, and design effective controls that align with industry best practices.

  • Act as a trusted risk advisor, providing consultation, analytical support, and risk mitigation strategies for new products, services, and business processes.

  • Develop strong relationships with enterprise and divisional internal clients, building credibility as a thought leader in risk management and compliance.

  • Assess the design and effectiveness of existing controls, recommending improvements based on industry standards and emerging risk trends.

  • Utilize analytical software to assess financial and operational risks, ensuring data-driven decision-making.

  • Make recommendations to reduce risk exposure, including diversification strategies, portfolio investment adjustments, and currency exchange risk management.

  • Participate in special projects and additional duties as assigned, supporting enterprise-wide risk management initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience, with at least 5 years in risk management.

  • Chartered Accountant, MBA, or equivalent degree in finance, law, or risk management.

  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, control frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Experience in financial and business risk analysis, including the use of analytical tools for risk modeling and assessment.

  • Ability to develop and implement risk management strategies that align with business objectives.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify risk exposure and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
