We are looking for a Distribution Sustainment Capital Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to join our team. In this learning role, you’ll grow your engineering skills while helping us care for the assets that keeps our power system safe and reliable. You’ll learn how to review asset data, plan projects, and understand what our system needs now and in the future.
We’ll support you as you build business cases, work with different teams, and head out to the field to see how everything works in real life. We’ll work together, providing guidance and support as you gain confidence, ask questions, and take on new challenges.
This role gives you a hands‑on chance to learn, solve problems, and make a real impact as you build your engineering career.
Major Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and guidance of a professional engineer:
Collect, analyze, and report distribution asset data using systems such as Maximo, Engin, GIS, SCADA, OMS, Power BI, and long-term plans.
Support decision-making on asset strategies (repair, replace, monitor, abandon).
Assist senior engineers with program ideation, scoping, justification, and project initiation.
Develop short-term (1 year) and long-term (3–10 year) plans for assigned programs
Prepare need justification and develop business cases for asset programs; defend cases with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders (e.g., AUC).
Contribute to asset management plans, process maps, and business documentation; ensure compliance with safety and integrity standards.
Participate in cross-functional teams to advance capital projects.
Track, resolve, and close hazards.
Ensure accurate asset data throughout the lifecycle and address information gaps with asset analytics.
Conduct field visits as required.
Support leaders with additional duties to advance business objectives.
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
Registered as an Engineer-in-Training with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Qualifications & Experience:
0-4 years of experience with directly applicable experience
Sound engineering and operational knowledge of distribution utility systems

Salary: Engineer in Training Level A (Current CUPE 2025 rates)
$81,593.69 - $86,692.06 - $91,790.43 - $96,888.79 - $101,987.16
Location: This role will be part of our hybrid work model that includes Core Days in office (Tuesdays, Wednesday, Thursdays), and more time to focus on Mondays and Fridays, either in the office or at home. The office workspace is located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB).
