Job Description:

The Telco Infrastructure CTO is considered a highly credible HPE Telco expert and authority, with both business and technical knowledge of Telco Compute, the operators technical & business challenges, the NEPs solutions and other partners added value.

In this capacity, the decision makers (technology and business) at the Operators and NEPs will consider this person their thought-leader/confidant consultant to:

  • Seek advice for roadmap and strategy
  • Identify the appropriate HPE Telco SMEs for further deeper dive discussions to shape strategy
  • Seek guidance on what-if scenarios based on technical, business case(price/cost etc.) and operational aspects of their network
  • Bring relevant partners to the table to formulate an optimum system level outcome
  • Rely on this person’s knowledge of the market including experience with other operators’
  • Always be 2 steps ahead to coach on the new technologies, business models and operational risks
  • Proactively and constantly works with their customer to determine new opportunities, helping to shape their future or address threats to existing opportunities – based on the market knowledge, competitive knowledge and customer’s environment.
  • Provides telecom specific solutions and expertise to both Account teams and Customer network CTO executives driving the technical & strategic discussions into effective business plan.
  • Determines and pursues courses of action essential in accomplishing objectives in coordination with Account teams and Customer Network management teams.
  • Proposes advanced technology, theories or techniques that have a significant continued impact across several Telecom disciplines (Core, Cloud Ran, Far Edge, etc.) demonstrating HPE added value to the Telecom industry.
  • Serves as organization spokesperson on specialized Telecom projects or programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Champions large projects that affect the Telecom customers’ long-range technical/business goals and helps to accelerate both HPE and Customer objectives’ achievement.
  • Provides mentoring and guidance to peers but also less qualified employees to ensure transfer knowledge and overall team knowledge growth.
  • The Telco Infrastructure BU CTO is responsible for providing deep technical expertise for hardware, software, or services in the creation and delivery of Telecom specific proposals designed to meet customers’ business needs.
  • Creates and maintains effective customer relationships to secure customer satisfaction by demonstrating HPE added value to their business.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of adjacent, leading-edge, and emerging technologies in the Telecom industry and associated market segments the industry is focusing on.
  • Guides customers on how to migrate and/or integrate technologies in new or existing environments based on a joint defined technical journey.
  • Participates in deep-dive telecom specific discussions to appropriately translate customer's problems into solutions the HPE Account team can drive to success and business.
  • Provides market and customer feedback to Telecom business unit engineering group and participates to the strategic direction, go-to-market strategies, portfolio content, and generates ideas resulting in cross-division projects.
  • May act as the lead for large complex telecom projects aligned with the customer team leadership.
  • Engages with Telecom customer technical thought leaders, and builds consultative presence and advisory influence with VPs, CxO, and lines of business, driving successful PoC projects as needed.
  • Leverages awareness of alliances and industries with an understanding of adjacent and complementary strategic partners.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree or significant technical expertise in Telecom with 15+ years of experience working in the Telecom industry ideally with a regional or global experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Recognized authority internally and externally on Telecom architecture, technologies and market innovative theories, or techniques.
  • Applies unique mastery in the Telecom domain and is a recognized Telecom industry expert in assigned area of specialization; is also expert in methodologies and programs contributing to the solution domain.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the full breadth of  technologies applied to latest Telecom initiatives and trends. Exhibits exceptional executive written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate in English and local languages.
  • Possesses an unique mastery of consultative selling techniques, including active listening, framing, white boarding, storytelling etc.
  • Strong project management expertise with deep analytical and problem-solving skills, including appropriate due diligence. Extensive business and financial acumen with clear understanding of KPI's relevant to various customer roles, including CTO levels.

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is provided below. Actual offer may vary from this range based upon geographic location, work experience, education/training, and/or skill level. If this is a sales role, then the listed salary range reflects combined base salary and target-level sales compensation pay. If this is a non-sales role, then the listed salary range reflects base salary only. Variable incentives may also be offered. USD Annual Salary: $170,000.00 - $412,500.00
