Role Purpose
 

The Disability Support Worker role at CPA exists to provide high-quality, person-centered support to people with disabilities.

You will play a vital role in empowering clients to live as independently as possible, by helping them to achieve their goals and supporting their day-to-day wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

About the Clients:

  • At CPA, our SIL houses typically accommodate between 4–6 clients. Clients can range in age from their early 20s through to more mature-aged clients.
  • Individuals living in CPA group homes may have a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down syndrome, and other intellectual or physical disabilities.
  • Clients may also present with differing levels of medical needs and behaviours, requiring varying levels of support.

Role Overview
 

We are looking for a dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our Accommodation and Respite service at our St Ives group home. This is a Permanent Part-Time opportunity, offering approximately 20 hours per week across a variety of shifts, including morning, day, evening, and awake night shifts.
 

As a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in a CPA SIL home, you will provide compassionate, person-centred support to clients in a domestic setting, helping them live as independently as possible while supporting their individual needs, choices, and goals.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients with daily living tasks, including cooking, mealtimes, cleaning, and general household activities
  • Provide personal care in a respectful and dignified manner (e.g., showering, toileting)
  • Administer medication in line with care plans
  • Assist with mobility and manual handling, including the use of specialised equipment such as hoists
  • Monitor and document client wellbeing, reporting any changes
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a supportive and positive team environment
     

Shift Times May Include

  • Early mornings: 6:00am – 9:00am
  • Day shifts: 9:00am – 3:00pm
  • Afternoon/evening shifts: 3:00pm – 6:00pm / 7:00pm / 8:00pm / 9:00pm
  • Awake overnight: 10:00pm – 6:00am

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to person-centred care
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P2)
  • Ability to meet the inherent physical requirements of the role
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working With Children Check
  • First Aid & CPR


Where required, CPA will support or reimburse relevant compliance certifications.
