Director, Vaccine Access and Coverage

ROLE SUMMARY

The Director of Vaccine Access and Coverage will be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong and lasting relationships with US Reimbursement and Payment Organizations/Agencies assuring that payment policy does not impede access to Pfizer Vaccine portfolio and inform/educate internal stakeholders on industry trends with coverage and reimbursement of Vaccine products.

They will collaborate with the Senior Director of Pricing Strategy, Senior Director of Contract Analytics,  the Account Management Team, and Finance, in the US Vaccines Business Unit to ensure the management of the access, coverage, and reimbursement strategy in the commercial segment, understanding of the various reimbursement practices within the private and public sectors.  Finally, this candidate will be a subject matter expert as it relates to access, coverage, and reimbursement strategies within the vaccine marketplace.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Provide interpretive guidance and strategic insight to various internal Pfizer stakeholders as to the impact of potential access, coverage, payment policy, or reimbursement issues. 

  • Work with launch teams to understand the targeted product profiles and opportunities for CPT differentiation 

  • Analyze payment data for our products and competitive products to ensure proper access, coverage, and reimbursement (inclusive of admin fee)  as well as any payer-specific issues that might arise.  

  • Understand the payer mix for accounts and the average reimbursement data to identify any nuances 

  • Keep abreast of administration fees and any statutory changes that might impact access, coverage, or reimbursement 

  • Review pricing publications regularly and present any changes in competitive reimbursement strategy 

  • Must conduct themselves with the utmost discretion and confidentiality. 

  • Must adhere to strict company compliance guidelines and procedures. 

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. Degree is required and additional certification in coding and reimbursement is preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years with BA/BS, 7 years with MBA, 5 years with PhD/equivalent in Pharmaceutical Industry experience typically within the fields of pharmaceutical sales and patient access, coding, and reimbursement.

  • Minimum 3 years experience, preferably within the Pharmaceutical/ Biopharmaceutical sectors, Provider/Carrier Networks, or Government Agency. Reimbursement and Access experience is necessary. Strong understanding of Reimbursement, Government Payment Systems, Provider/Carrier Networks, Co-Pay Assistance Programs, and knowledge of the Vaccine policy dynamics that exist in the Cancer Community. 

  • Experience demonstrating exceptional communication and presentation skills, strategic planning, and success in implementation of this plan to bring a return on investment. This individual must also have demonstrated leadership and success at working across internal boundaries and be able to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to coordinate various unique objectives. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly regulated environment and adhere to strict company compliance guidelines and procedures. Proven track record of collaborating broadly with a diverse range of customers, clients, and stakeholders. Training in and experience in responsible business communication both written and spoken. 

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • BA/BS in STEM areas or public health

  • Vaccine pricing experience

  • Project management experience

  • Work Location Assignment:  This is a hybrid role requiring you to live within commuting distance and work on-site an average of 2.5 days per week or more as needed.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $176,600.00 to $294,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
