Primary Function

Lead the Newrez Family of Companies internal and external VA home loan education and policy efforts. The Director of VA Education and Policy will facilitate industry and consumer facing educational seminars, conduct educational briefs in person or virtually, research and develop VA educational curriculum, and be the educational liaison with our external strategic partners.

Principal Duties

  • Monitor VA circulars, trends and collect and analyze data in order to identify and develop educational content.
  • Contribute to the development of VA home loan curriculum and support dissemination campaigns internally and externally, complete data review, analysis and presentation of data.
  • Contribute to the development of new training initiatives to support Military & Veteran partnerships.
  • Implement strategies to maintain engagement and provide operational support to all channels as necessary for VA home loan issues and concerns.
  • Actively participate in military and veteran external organizations that advance and advocate for the use of the VA home loan benefit. 
  • Generate/initiate outreach to account executives and loan originators companywide.
  • Support and train VA home loan program to relationship partners and through internal new hire training as required.
  • Maintain cohesive relationships with trade organizations like NAMB and VAREP to influence legislative activities that affect current and future VA home loan policy.
  • Manage the internal VA Support email inbox and respond to questions from our team members about VA loan transactions.
  • Support the internal Military email inbox and respond or direct questions to the appropriate person.
  • Review, update, and develop VA educational material within AMP and Total Expert
  • Support the team in co-facilitating one-on-one business development sessions with originators, branch/regional market reviews, new hire training, and line of business training for wholesale, DTC, JV’s, and retail.
  • Support the team in co-facilitating external educational events through our strategic partners (Green Beret Foundation, UDT Seal, VAREP, and others).
  • Attend sponsored events (VAREP, Green Beret Foundation, Military Influencer, Military Spouse of the Year, etc.) when necessary to support team.
  • Coordinate with product development and corporate risk and policy to ensure all communication is standardized across divisions.
  • Conduct strategic planning with brand managers on their routines, 1:1s, and accountability activities and discuss business development plans and education with MVLPs.
  • Assist with strategic planning of regional events and activity calendar to ensure brand presence in military and veteran communities.
  • Support local and national partnerships and overall VA production by expanding education, networking, and strategic partnerships in the region.
  • Support the collection and dissemination of leads to certified MVLPs companywide.
  • Ability to effectively and accurately convey information to others.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by management.

Education and Experience Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred
  • 9+ years of progressive, related experience.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements 

  • Mortgage experience, Military & Veteran community familiarization, Mortgage training background.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Working on-site at assigned office location.
  • Regular and punctual attendance adhering to schedule established by leadership.
  • Flexibility to work occasional adjusted work schedules, overtime, and evening and/or weekend hours to meet deadlines or as business needs demand.
  • Working in a cubicle hub, maintaining focus on phone calls in a noisy environment within earshot of multiple other conversations.
  • Sedentary work in a stationary position at a cubicle for prolonged periods of time.
  • Constant repetitive motions required for operating a computer, such as typing and managing phone calls.
  • Constantly communicating effectively verbally in English, including accurately exchanging information with others following identification of correct procedures.
