Primary Function

The Director Title Curative directs the successful execution of the tasks and responsibilities of the specified curative team ensuring that all work is completed in accordance with best practices, company and underwriter policies/procedures, applicable statutes, regulations, and customer SLAs. Manage accurate reporting to key internal and external stakeholders as to team performance and make appropriate and timely changes to team workloads and workflows to facilitate the needs of customers.

Principal Duties

  • Oversee the coordination and execution of tasks and responsibilities of specified sub-teams within the Title Curative and Title Support Department
  • Direct and manage staff and contingent workforce by prioritizing and delegating work, tracking day-to-day production and quality targets, and making appropriate changes to team workloads and workflows
  • Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring relevant control and feedback systems to ensure the quality of work performed as well as compliance with company and underwriter policies/procedures, applicable statutes, regulations, and customer SLAs
  • Create, maintain, and distribute various report to internal and external stakeholders as to team performance and productivity
  • Monitor and approve team member time and attendance, conduct employee reviews, and set individual/team production and performance goals
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor team members through team and one-on-one meetings
  • Interview and oversee the training of new team members as to job responsibilities and company policies  
  • Provide guidance and assistance with the resolution of title curative matters including coordinating with company underwriters to clear complex issues and granting business decision clearance as necessary
  • Implement new processes, technologies, and/or training initiatives to improve the performance and productivity of staff and contingent workers
  • Collaborate on a continuous basis with customers and other departments within the company to ensure the facilitation of information, alignment of resources, and resolution of issues
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 9+ years of relevant experience performing title curative work in title insurance or mortgage industry

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements 

  • Comprehensive understanding of the Title Curative and Title Support Department, its various sub-teams, and the environment in which it operates.
  • General management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a professional, ethical manner.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to build and maintain professional relationships with customers, co-workers, vendors, etc.
  • Superior professional communication skills – written & verbal.
  • Superior time management skills & ability to respond to client/vendor/inter-departmental requests in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated decision making, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and achieve volume goals and performance standards.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel & Outlook; ResWare experience a plus.
  • Research & analytical skills to comprehend applicable state laws.
