Job Description:

The Director – Thought Leadership supports the Market Management team in achieving a key objective: to enhance the Transaction Banking both internally and externally. You will be responsible for:

  • Building and executing a multi-channel thought leadership program that strengthens the Transaction Banking franchise, supports client engagement, and positions the bank as a leading voice on payments and treasury modernization.
  • Owning the market and competitive intelligence capability, monitoring competitor moves, synthesizing market signals, and translating insights into differentiated points of view, go-to-market narratives, and executive decision support.

The role develops an insights agenda grounded in client needs and market disruption, partners with internal product/coverage leaders and external institutions, and converts research into high-impact content, events, and executive communications that drive measurable commercial outcomes.

You will engage with multiple internal stakeholders within and supporting Transaction Banking including product teams (payments, liquidity, channels), origination/coverage, marketing/communications, risk/legal/compliance, and senior executives. You will also engage external partners such as industry bodies, academia, and key client audiences.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following categories:

  • Strategy & editorial agenda
  • Define and deliver the thought leadership strategy, themes, and annual roadmap aligned to transaction banking priorities and overall enterprise direction.
  • Conduct ongoing market scanning (payments trends, disruptions, regulatory/rail modernization) and translate into a prioritized editorial calendar.
  • Plan and deliver integrated marketing and distribution (campaigns, social/digital, sales enablement, targeted pushes).
  • Market and competition research & monitoring
  • Identify research questions; partner with internal experts and/or researchers to produce credible analysis and narratives.
  • Build and maintain a structured “capability map” that compares competitor, as well as “battlecards” for priority solutions.
  • Synthesize findings into clear recommendations and implementation implications for clients and internal strategy leaders.
  • Content creation & storytelling
  • Produce and oversee a portfolio of deliverables: reports, executive briefs, POVs, articles, white papers, scripts, webinars, podcasts, and conference materials.
  • Lead external-facing programs: roundtables, industry conferences, webinars, and client events, partnering with product teams and coverage leaders.
  • Ensure content is on-brand, evidence-based, and differentiated (POV + data + “so what” for clients) across multiple lines of business (LOBs).
  • Contribute to RFP/RFI responses across multiple LOBs for both existing and emerging products and solutions.
  • Executive communications & internal enablement
  • Create executive-ready artifacts for steering committees and senior leadership updates; support strategic planning cycles with insight inputs.
  • Equip coverage teams with talk tracks, FAQs, and client-ready summaries to improve consistency and impact.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • 10+ years in communication, strategy, management consulting, research/insights, treasury or relevant banking domain roles.
  • Strong understanding of transaction banking / payments / treasury landscape and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, comfortable with ambiguity and cross-functional execution.
  • Strong writing/storytelling, with confidence presenting to senior leaders and external audiences.

Successful candidates may be assessed through a case study as well as several rounds of interviews.

Is This Role Right for You?

  • Do you have a positive, can-do attitude and enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment?
  • Do you take personal accountability for your work and see challenges as opportunities to grow?
  • Are you excited by the idea of contributing to meaningful, transformational change?
  • Are you excited to own and shape the Transaction Bank’s thought leadership agenda?
  • Do you enjoy translating messy market signals, research, and competitive intelligence into clear, differentiated narratives?
  • Are you comfortable supporting strategic conversations, and presenting complex ideas with clarity to multiple different and complex audiences?
  • Do you enjoy leading through ambiguity, setting new structures, cadence, and standards?

If these questions resonate with you, we would love to hear from you!
