Position Summary

The Director, Supply Chain Planning & Logistics is responsible for managing people, processes, and systems in demand, supply, and portfolio management, as well as planning frameworks such as S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and S&OE (Sales & Operations Execution) for AT&T Network Infrastructure Equipment. This role ensures successful execution of planning processes that balance demand and supply while aligning with business objectives. The position is accountable for enabling business leaders to make data-driven decisions that align execution with strategy in a dynamic environment, balancing service, cost, inventory, sustainability, and risk.

The role develops and maintains collaborative relationships with internal functions such as construction, engineering, network operations, sales, logistics, sourcing, and finance to align financial and operational plans.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and implement supply chain planning and fulfillment strategies (demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, and distribution planning).

  • Drive operational excellence by ensuring timely customer order fulfillment, inventory reduction, and continuous logistics improvement.

  • Lead large teams, providing direction, mentoring, and personnel decisions, while fostering employee development.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support capital build plans and alignment with business roadmaps.

Performance & Risk Management

  • Monitor supply chain performance using advanced analytics

  • Identify improvement opportunities and mitigate risks in finance, sustainability, and compliance.

  • Ensure regulatory adherence and enhance the customer experience.

  • Identify Choice points and implications to drive cross-functional alignment

Technology & Innovation

  • Drive adoption and increased competency to leverage AI, machine learning, automation, and robotics in evolution of supply chain processes.

  • Support new product launches and drive projects for inventory optimization and enhanced distribution.

Planning & Decision-Making

  • Make impactful decisions on demand, supply, and consensus plans.

  • Utilize market intelligence and third-party sources to inform planning strategies.

  • Benchmark and improve planning functions using supply chain analytics.

  • Facilitate what-if analyses and scenario planning; communicate risks and opportunities.

  • Lead demand and supply teams to develop monthly S&OP inputs and manage variance realignment as needed.

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs); course correct as necessary.

People & Team Development

  • Define future planning roles and establish plan to increase competencies in skills and knowledge inherent in the future of supply chain planning.

  • Set performance goals and provide feedback for direct reports and planning teams.

  • Develop training curricula and support professional growth.

  • Foster collaboration and high-performance culture across teams and stakeholders.

Required Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of demand, supply, inventory, and portfolio planning concepts and processes.

  • Strong business acumen, including finance, sales, manufacturing, logistics, and procurement.

  • Proven ability to integrate advanced supply chain technologies (AI, data lakes, IoT, automation) into business processes.

  • Ability to make sound decisions and take appropriate, measured risks in ambiguous situations with incomplete information.

  • Advanced analytical and numeracy skills; ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Effective communicator with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse stakeholders.

  • Experienced in developing, training, and mentoring high-performing teams.

  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and scenario evaluation skills.

  • Highly collaborative, with excellent relationship-building and negotiation abilities.

Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Supply chain/operations certification is a plus.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain management, demand/supply planning, and customer service.

  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain planning and execution.

  • Demonstrated success in people management and cross-functional team leadership.

  • Proven track record in achieving KPIs such as forecast and plan accuracy, process adherence, stock turns, ROI, and project completion.

  • Experience in systems improvement and robust process establishment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Yes. Leads large teams, including supervisors and career-level staff.

  • Responsible for decisions regarding hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, promotions, and compensation.

Our Director Supply Chain Plng/Logistics earns between $158,200 - $237,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
