About the Role
The Director of Supplier Resiliency leads the global Supplier Resiliency and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) function for HARMAN’s Automotive division, reporting to the Head of Procurement Excellence. This role is accountable for ensuring the robustness, continuity, and sustainability of HARMAN’s global automotive supply base in an increasingly volatile risk environment.
The position drives enterprise-wide supplier resiliency strategies across quality, capacity, financial health, geopolitical exposure, environmental risk, and regulatory compliance. The Director partners closely with Procurement, Supplier Quality, Operations, Engineering, and OEM customers to proactively identify, mitigate, and manage supply chain risks while enabling business growth and successful product launches.
What You Will Do
Global Supplier Resiliency & Risk Leadership
- Lead and define the global Supplier Resiliency and Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM) function across all regions and automotive product lines.
- Own the global resiliency strategy, end-to-end Risk Management implementation roadmap, operating model, organizational structure, headcount planning, investments, and cost management for SCRM.
- Establish governance models that integrate supplier resiliency into sourcing decisions, category strategies, and enterprise risk management.
- Execute Risk Ownership role as defined in end-to-end Risk Management Framework.
Risk Identification, Assessment & Mitigation
- Implement structured E2E supplier risk framework covering:
- Operational and capacity risk
- Quality and delivery risk
- Financial and business continuity risk
- Geopolitical, regulatory, and environmental risk
- Sustainability and ESG-related risk
- Ensure proactive identification of single-source, single-site, and bottleneck risks, including Tier-n exposure.
- Ensure data collection and maintenance for reliable, efficient and effective supplier manufacturing footprint, including Tier2 and up to Tier-n.
- Define and execute risk mitigation and recovery strategies in collaboration with Procurement and Operations.
Supplier Engagement & Development
- Utilize the Supplier Resiliency organization to actively engage suppliers through resiliency assessments, development programs, and business continuity planning.
- Build up Supplier Relationship Capability for flawless execution of risk contingency plans.
- Drive corrective actions and supplier recovery plans for high-risk or underperforming suppliers.
- Support the development of new and strategic suppliers to meet HARMAN’s Automotive resiliency, sustainability, and continuity standards.
Sustainability & ESG (Oversight & Governance)
- Provide executive oversight and governance for sustainability and ESG activities led by dedicated team resources.
- Ensure sustainability and ESG requirements are embedded into supplier resiliency and risk management frameworks.
- Align supplier resiliency strategies with HARMAN’s ESG objectives, regulatory obligations, and enterprise sustainability roadmap.
- Review and escalate material ESG and climate-related supplier risks impacting business continuity or compliance.
- Sponsor cross-functional alignment between Sustainability, Procurement, and Supplier Resiliency teams to ensure consistent execution and reporting.
Systems, Tools & Analytics
- Lead the development and deployment of digital tools, dashboards, and early-warning systems, AI solutions for supplier risk monitoring and scenario analysis.
- Establish consistent KPIs and metrics for supplier resiliency, risk exposure, recovery readiness, and productivity to enable objective performance comparisons and executive reporting.
- Ensure data-driven risk insights are embedded into decision-making at category, program, and enterprise levels throughout HARMAN’s PLM process.
Crisis Management & Escalation
- Act as a senior escalation point for supplier-related crises, including supply disruptions, quality escapes, financial distress, or force majeure events.
- Lead cross-functional response teams to stabilize supply, protect customers, and minimize business impact.
- Drive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements to prevent recurrence.
Cross-Functional & Customer Collaboration
- Partner closely with Supplier Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, and OEM Customer Quality teams to ensure resilient launches and stable serial production.
- Provide supplier resiliency and risk input into OEM engagement, launch readiness reviews, and customer escalations.
- Align supplier resiliency objectives with HARMAN’s broader sustainability, compliance, and ESG commitments.
People & Organizational Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global team with strong expertise in supply chain risk, analytics, and supplier development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and proactive and preventive risk ownership.
- Empower teams to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and continuously improve resiliency capabilities across the organization.
What You Need to Be Successful
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in supplier management, supplier quality, supply chain risk, or operations within an Automotive Tier-1 or complex manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of experience leading global, multi-regional teams in a matrix organization.
- Proven expertise in end-to-end supply chain risk management, including identification, assessment, mitigation, and recovery across supplier tiers and lifecycle stages.
- Strong understanding of global manufacturing operations, capacity management, and business continuity planning.
- Strong understanding of ESG data systems, including supplier sustainability assessments, Scope 3 emissions data, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data, analytics, and digital tools to drive supplier risk visibility, early warning systems, and fact-based executive decision-making.
- Strong change leadership capabilities, with the ability to manage complexity, ambiguity, and transformation initiatives.
- Proven success working in international and cross-cultural environments, adapting leadership style as needed.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies, applied at a strategic and systems level.
- Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, and executive communication skills.
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience deploying or scaling digital supply chain risk management platforms, including early-warning, scenario modeling, and supplier visibility tools.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics, predictive risk indicators, and data automation within complex global supply chains.
- Experience managing enterprise-level crises or major supply disruptions, including cross-functional war rooms and executive communications.
- Knowledge of Automotive OEM expectations, IATF 16949, and regulatory requirements impacting supplier risk and resilience.
