Mercer University, an NCAA Division I Institution and a member of the Southern Conference is accepting applications for the position of Director of Strength &
Conditioning. Primary responsibilities will include the design and implementation of year round strength and conditioning programs for Division I athletics teams, teaching proper technique in various strength, speed, agility, conditioning and explosive movements, testing and evaluating the student-athlete's performance, compliance with all appropriate university, Southern Conference and NCAA Rules and Regulations.
The object of the position is to enhance the student-athlete's strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, power, and agility. The welfare and safety of the student-athlete should always be a priority. This position will also develop and implement the philosophy of the Strength and Conditioning Department while also setting a positive example and setting up the Strength and Conditioning staff for success. This position will also be required to motivate and inspire student-athletes, coaches, and staff to be successful while staying up to date on current trends through continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field from an accredited
university/college, 2 years of prior experience work as a strength and conditioning coach with team sports in a collegiate or professional setting and a current Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) certification are required. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with excellent organizational skills. Must be able to work on weekends, mornings, evenings, and some holidays. Some travel may also be required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
1. The ability to effectively communicate with university personnel, including coaches, student-athletes,
support staff, and athletic administration
2. Organizational skills
3. Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite
4. Ability to lift 60 lbs. overhead with or without reasonable accommodation
5. Willingness to work on weekends, mornings, evenings, and holidays
6. Will Travel on all Away Trips
