POSITION PURPOSE
The Director, Strategy, under the direction of the Regional Chief Strategy Officer, leads the development and execution of strategic, business, and service line plans; supports regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, market assessments, and long-range facility and financial planning; and performs strategic analyses for the Trinity Health Oakland and Trinity Health Livonia.
The position helps advance and coordinate planning, strategy, and business development across hospitals, medical groups, clinically integrated networks, and other entities within the defined geography. The role maintains a dotted-line relationship to the ministry President (or designee), participates on the local Senior Leadership Team as invited, and devotes approximately 90% of time to local initiatives and 10% to regional priorities.
MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA), Health Administration (MHA) or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Seven years of experience in healthcare leadership, strategy, performance improvement, planning, growth and data analysis within a local, regional, or national health system, or related organization.
CERTIFICATION: Professional membership (e.g., ACHE, SHSMD, HFMA, MGMA) preferred. Clinical licensure, fellowship, professional certification, or process improvement certification strongly preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Strategic Growth & Partnership: Partners with ministry, regional, and system leaders across finance, payer strategy, marketing, innovation, facilities, medical group, and physician services to identify, evaluate, and advance strategic growth opportunities.
Ministry & System Priority Alignment: Focuses on ministry and system priorities that strengthen competitive position and support sustainable organic and inorganic growth.
Strategic, Financial & Capital Planning: Translates ministry growth strategies into integrated strategic, financial, capital, and facilities plans in collaboration with regional and ministry financial leadership.
Business, Service Line & Opportunity Planning: Leads the development of business and service line plans using disciplined, data-driven methodologies; ensures accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with Trinity Health standards.
Execution of Strategic Initiatives: Coordinates cross-functional resources to implement, monitor, and advance key strategic initiatives, working closely with ministry SLT/ELT and operational leaders.
Market Intelligence & Analytics: Oversees market, competitive, utilization, and environmental analysis to inform strategic decisions and educate leaders on market dynamics and performance drivers.
Transactions, Regulatory & External Growth: Participates in evaluation of joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and Certificate of Need activities in coordination with regional and system teams.
Research, Data Systems & Reporting: Supports market research, strategic planning tools, vendor solutions, surveys, and required reporting to ensure reliable data and insights.
System Alignment & Leadership Contribution: Ensures alignment with Trinity Health mission, values, and system planning processes while contributing to ministry and regional priorities and other growth-related initiatives as assigned.
