JOB TITLE: Director, Strategic Investment Partnering - LBCM
LOCATIONS: Edinburgh / Bristol / London
HOURS: Full-Time

About This Opportunity
We’re seeking a Director, Strategic Investment Partnering to help shape how Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM) and the Markets Platform invest. The role supports delivery of a clear growth strategy through to 2030 and our ambition to become the UK’s leading bank for Debt, Cash and Risk.
Significant investment is being made in both technology and people to expand the LBCM franchise in a balanced and sustainable way. You’ll work at the intersection of strategy, investment management, finance and delivery. Collaborating with senior leaders across Product, Coverage, Platform, Finance and Investment Management, you'll translate CIB’s North Star into a coherent, prioritised and value‑focused investment portfolio.
This role sits within our Strategic Cost & Investment team, which leads the Divisional‑level Investment Portfolio for our Corporate & Institutional Bank (CIB). You’ll act as a senior strategic partner on complex, multi‑year investment decisions. Your focus will be on enabling growth, strengthening capability and delivering strong customer, commercial and risk outcomes, aligned to our purpose of Helping Britain Prosper.
Key accountabilities
Strategic investment portfolio ownership – Shape and evolve the LBCM & Markets Platform investment portfolio. Ensure alignment to strategic priorities and an appropriate balance between growth, efficiency, resilience and risk, while managing portfolio‑level risks, interdependencies and constraints through effective governance
Senior partnering and influence – Partner with senior decision‑makers across Business, Platform, Finance and Investment Management across Business, Platform, Finance and Investment Management. Provide insight, constructive challenge and financial perspective to support prioritisation, trade‑offs and investment decisions.
Investment case development and standards – Drive the development of high‑quality investment cases. Ensure costs, benefits, risks and assumptions are robust, transparent and aligned to agreed planning and investment standards.
Future capability and operating model considerations – Identify future‑state capability, resourcing and operating model needs. Support informed decisions on people, technology and structural changes needed to deliver LBCM’s growth ambitions.
Portfolio governance and oversight – Support effective portfolio‑level governance by managing interdependencies, risks and constraints. Enable executive forums with clear recommendations and concise articulation of strategic and financial implications.
What We Need From You
Strategic, commercial and financial judgement (5+ years) - Demonstrable application of strategic and commercial judgement in complex environments. Strong financial competence, with the ability to turn complex information into clear options and recommendations for senior leaders.
Strong experience in CIB, LBCM or Markets environments (5+ years) - Experience working within, or closely alongside, Corporate & Institutional Banking, LBCM or Markets businesses. A strong understanding of relevant products, platforms, systems and processes
Senior partnering and influence - Proven ability to build credible relationships at senior level. Comfortable providing challenge, navigating conflicting priorities and influencing across a matrix to drive alignment.
Decision‑making and accountability in uncertain environments - A track record of making and standing behind investment or strategic decisions in conditions of uncertainty. Experience influencing outcomes through others across complex, cross‑functional environments.
Governance, delivery and control - Strong experience in portfolio governance, planning, tracking and reporting. Able to manage risks, issues and dependencies through appropriate governance mechanisms.
Broad change and analytical capability - Experience across operating model build, process transformation and digital or technology change, with the ability to communicate analysis clearly to senior audiences.
