We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to join our team in a pivotal Enterprise Strategy role. This position will work closely with business units, functional teams and strategy leaders to shape and advance the organization’s strategic direction. The successful candidate will be experienced in navigating highly complex organizations, communicating complex topics to executive leaders, making strategic connections, facilitating strategic discussions and planning processes.
Oversight of key strategy updates to senior leaders and the Board
Collaborate with business, function and strategy leaders to formulate strategies for specified initiatives
Prepare strategy materials for Board, College of Supervisors, Rating Agency and ELT presentations
Support strategic planning process including SWOT and Competitor analysis, collaborating with businesses and functions
Execute assigned annual, quarterly, monthly strategy routines (ex. Board meetings, strategy leadership meetings, ELT reporting)
Support listening post network by executing on assigned research to develop fact bases and points of view on strategic trends
Enable and reinforce strong connections and alignment of strategies up, down and across the organization
Support strategic leadership sessions to align priorities and focus areas and facilitate strategic discussions
Support other Enterprise Strategy Office priorities as needed
Operate as an independent, unbiased thought partner to senior leadership
Ensure alignment and transparency across stakeholders, including ELT, Board, and business units.
Craft executive-level and Board presentations, strategic narratives, and reports for leadership forums.
Supports communications strategy to advance enterprise strategic initiatives.
Build strong relationships across business units and functions to ensure cohesive and collaborative execution of strategic goals while building credibility and trust.
Experience in strategy, transformation, or related roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in a highly matrixed organization.
Expertise in managing ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments with the ability to apply change management
Proven track record in driving large-scale initiatives with measurable results
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making
An ability to quickly build strong credible relationships quickly when partnering with a variety of levels of business leaders
Deep understanding of strategic planning processes and frameworks.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and ROI analysis.
Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to create strategic visuals and reports.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use copilot or other AI tools for enhancing productivity, generating content, and providing insightful data analysis.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and remain results-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on operational excellence.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
