About Salesforce
Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.
Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.
We are hiring a Director of Solution Engineering for Financial Services to lead one of the most senior and strategically important SE teams within Salesforce’s Data Foundation organization.
This team supports Strategic and Enterprise Financial Services institutions across banking, insurance, capital markets, and fintech — organizations operating at the intersection of data, integration, AI, regulation, and digital transformation.
The Solution Engineers reporting to this leader represent some of the most experienced technical professionals in the organization. Many are Principal-level or industry-recognized experts who have spent years building credibility with customers and the field.
This role therefore requires a different type of leader.
You will not succeed here by directing activity. You will succeed by earning followership, sharpening elite talent, and raising the professional bar of the Solution Engineering discipline.
Your responsibility is to:
Elevate the capabilities of already highly successful professionals
Ensure our teams consistently demonstrate executive presence and architectural authority
Align technical strategy with Sales leadership, industry trends, and emerging AI-driven architectures
Position Salesforce’s Data Foundation (MuleSoft + Informatica + Data360 + AI) as a strategic layer of enterprise transformation
This role sits at the center of how Salesforce engages Financial Services customers around trusted data, enterprise architecture, and AI-enabled business models.
Lead a team of senior and principal Solution Engineers supporting the largest Financial Services customers.
Your role is to:
Earn credibility with highly experienced technical professionals
Coach senior SEs to elevate their craft in strategy, storytelling, architecture, and influence
Identify skill gaps early and drive continuous development
Build the next generation of Principal SEs, Distinguished SEs, Strategic Client Architects, and Leaders
Lean-in with our Sales team - AEs, RVPs, and AVP
This leader must be comfortable coaching individuals who may be:
Have strong technical knowledge and experience
Industry veterans
Strong sellers
or already recognized experts
Your leadership comes through clarity, coaching, and standards.
You will define what excellence looks like for Strategic/Enterprise Solution Engineers.
This includes elevating:
Executive communication
Discovery and problem framing
Business outcome alignment
Architectural storytelling
Demonstration craftsmanship
Strategic deal orchestration
Your goal is to ensure the team operates as trusted advisors to senior technology leaders, not simply product specialists.
A trusted advisor is someone whose guidance is sought before decisions are made, not after.
Financial Services organizations cannot deploy AI without trusted, connected, and governed data.
You will ensure the team can clearly articulate how Salesforce’s Data Foundation enables this through:
MuleSoft integration architecture
Informatica data management and governance
Data360 and analytics
AI and Agent-driven automation
Your team must be able to guide CIOs, CDOs, CTOs, and enterprise architects through the architectural journey from:
Business outcomes → Algorithms → Architecture → Platform
You will work closely with:
AVP
RVPs
Strategic AEs
Client Architects
Platform SE teams
Salesforce Core teams
Informatica teams
Data360 teams
Responsibilities include:
Inspecting pipeline quality and opportunity execution
Providing technical deal strategy for must-win opportunities
Anticipating risk early (technical, organizational, political)
Ensuring SE engagement drives confidence, differentiation, and technical wins
You will also help shape account strategies and market narratives, not simply support them.
This role is responsible for shaping Financial Services technical narratives that the field can leverage including novel approaches.
Examples include:
Industry architectures for AI-ready data platforms
Integration and data governance patterns
Financial Services-specific transformation strategies
Reusable demos, POVs, and solution frameworks
New approaches to solutions that require new capabilities
The output of this work must be repeatable, scalable intellectual property, not one-off deal artifacts.
Within 12–24 months:
Your team is recognized internally and externally for:
Executive credibility with Financial Services customers
Architectural depth across integration, data, and AI
Strong partnership with Sales leadership
Consistent technical differentiation in complex deals
Additionally:
Senior SEs continue to grow rather than plateau
New Principal and Distinguished-level talent emerges
Strategic opportunities increasingly rely on your team’s perspective
Most importantly:
The professionalism of the SE discipline visibly rises across the organization.
Leadership Experience
10+ years in Solution Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales, or Enterprise Architecture
Experience leading and mentoring senior technical professionals
Demonstrated ability to influence individuals without relying on authority
Financial Services Expertise
Deep understanding of banking, insurance, capital markets, fintech, or payments
Familiarity with regulatory, operational, and technology pressures facing the industry
Technical Depth
Strong understanding of:
Enterprise integration patterns
API and event architectures
Data platforms and governance
AI-enabled business architectures
Executive Presence
Comfort engaging senior leaders including:
CIO
CTO
CDO
Enterprise Architects
Line-of-business executives
Leadership Philosophy
A bias for:
Clarity
Accountability
Professional standards
Continuous improvement
Your role is to get more out of talented people than they believed they were capable of.
Financial Services organizations are entering a new era defined by:
AI-driven decisioning
Data platform consolidation
Regulatory complexity
Digital product innovation
None of this works without a modern Data Foundation.
This role helps define:
How Salesforce supports that transformation
How Solution Engineers lead those conversations
How technical credibility accelerates enterprise change
This is not a management role.
This is a profession-shaping leadership role.
You will influence:
How enterprise customers think about architecture
How Solution Engineers operate as trusted advisors
How Salesforce’s Data Foundation strategy is executed in Financial Services
If you want to lead elite technical professionals and shape the future of enterprise architecture conversations, this is the opportunity.
