The Assay Innovation Hub Director will lead the development and implementation of innovative testing platforms and methodologies in clinical serology, immunology, and early clinical research evaluation. The Assay Discovery Hub in ADI is envisioned as a centralized, innovative platform dedicated to advancing serological capabilities for various priority vaccine programs for GSK VIDRU organization.
Responsibilities
Leadership:
Lead a team of scientists define assay strategies, develop and validate new testing platforms, and deliver results aligned with company objectives.
Foster innovation in clinical serology and early clinical research to address emerging challenges in vaccine development.
Partner with other platform heads within ADI in early evaluation of new serological methods and other platforms in Vx CLAP
Scientific and Technical Expertise:
Develop, maintain, and improve a portfolio of assays to assess vaccine immunogenicity and efficacy.
Implement state-of-the-art methodologies through constant scientific and technological surveillance.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic institutions and key opinion leaders, to share expertise and drive innovation.
Regulatory and Clinical Contributions:
Develop documents for regulatory submissions and address inquiries from regulatory authorities.
Contribute to internal and external publications and communications related to assay innovation.
Resource Planning and Management:
Prioritize activities to achieve key milestones within agreed timelines and budgets.
Manage resources effectively, including OpEx and CapEx planning, and oversee outsourced activities related to assay development and testing.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in Immunology, microbiology, bioassay, vaccinology
8+ years of experience in assay development for clinical serology/immunology in the context of vaccine development
4+ years line management experience and previous experience leading teams of 5+ scientists
Track record of automation adoption and new technology assessment, including computational or AI tools
Experience in regulated laboratory environments and GxP
Good understanding of new product clinical development organization and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
Post-doctoral research in Immunology, microbiology, bioassay, vaccinology
Deep expertise in Cell based Functional immunoassays – viral neutralization, bacterial opsonophagocytic killing; Flow cytometric analysis; Ligand binding assays; high-throughput omics assay.
