Responsibilities and Impact:
As an individual contributor, maintain and grow revenue for U.S. Public Finance clients across all sectors in Chicago and the Midwest region, by creating and implementing effective sales and relationship management strategies that align with enterprise objectives and demonstrate strategic thinking.
Identify and pursue new business & client opportunities, establishing relationships with potential clients to expand S&P's market presence while leveraging expertise to advise on complex client situations and market dynamics.
Lead the sales process from prospecting to closing, effectively communicating S&P's value proposition and differentiators to clients and intermediaries. Leverage advanced communication and negotiation skills to gain client buy-in and optimize revenue through strategic analysis of multiple scenarios and options.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring their needs are met and identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling services by operating as a trusted expert advisor on complex matters.
Performance Tracking: Monitor and help report on sales performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement that contribute to sustainable long-term solutions reflecting business needs.
Conduct thorough market research to understand industry trends and client needs, using insights to inform sales strategies and proposals while articulating market trends and incorporating external perspectives into strategic recommendations.
Work closely with internal teams and key stakeholders, including marketing, sales support, and product development, to ensure alignment in sales efforts and client engagement initiatives by building consensus across groups with competing priorities and leveraging networks at senior leadership levels.
Participate in industry events and forums to represent S&P and deepen networks with clients and intermediaries while representing the organization as a subject matter expert in the field.
What We’re Looking For
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or a related field.
An S&P Global employee in similar position typically comes with 10+ years of proven experience in the financial services industry with demonstrated expertise to impact systems and processes and ability to make decisions where clear parameters exist.
Established sales experience and proven record of maintaining strong relationships within the U.S. Public Finance industry participants in Chicago and the Midwest States.
Proven track record of sales success with ability to act as an escalation point and ensure quality of current value creation
Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with stakeholders outside of immediate unit/area/geography while incorporating diverse perspectives.
US Travel Required
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent).
Familiarity with S&P's products and services.
Experience in coaching and developing team members to enhance organizational capability.
Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to U.S. candidates)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $124,000 to $217,000. The final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications.
US Right to Work Requirements: This role is limited to persons with an indefinite right to work in the United States.
Hybrid Work Requirements: All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
Interview Requirements: We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
