DIRECTOR - REGIONAL SALES

Position Description:

  • Lead and direct the overall efforts of the Outside Sales force to generate optimal sales volume and profitability in line with corporate guidelines.  
  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to grow the organization's business; execute contracts; and account and brand forecasting.  
  • Evaluate, motivate and manage the performance of the sales representatives relative to their position responsibilities and requirements, territory plans, and related assignments.  
  • Negotiate pricing and customer claims to secure maximum profitability for the company.  
  • Supervise the quantity and quality of work performed. Select, train and develop Outside Salespersons. Assign, plan and coordinate sales territories and accounts.  
  • Assist Business Unit management in planning and sales forecasting.  
  • Maintain effective communication with the Vice President – Bar & Coil and other key internal contacts. 
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Position Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree with emphasis on marketing preferred.
  • 10+ years of sales/marketing experience in the specialty metals industry, including 2+ years of prior supervisory experience.  
  • Strategic – experience with developing area/departmental plans including business, production and/or organizational priorities. 
  • Financial – experience in managing resources to ensure financial and operational objectives are met. 
  • Knowledge of sales process and sales forecasting. Ability to develop relationships with key customers to identify emerging needs.  
  • Requires good decision making and team building abilities, effectively coaches and provides development opportunities and effectively manage individual employee performance within area of responsibility.   
  • Other attributes of qualified candidates include - ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, use sound and logical thinking in choosing a particular course of action, work in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.  
  • Requires a high comfort level with MS Office including Outlook, and the ability to train and develop others.
