A day in the life

The Director of Real Estate Operations Accounting is a key leader within the Global Accounting organization. This role is responsible for leading a core accounting function supporting U.S. property operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and exceptional service to business partners.

The Director develops and executes short-term operational strategy (0–6 month horizon), establishes operational processes, policies and controls within their area of responsibility, and drives accountability across the team. This role partners closely with Accounting leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex issues and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight & Operational Execution

  • Lead a defined accounting function within Real Estate Operations Accounting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and internal financial controls within the area managed.
  • Oversee complex accounting areas, reconciliations, and review processes.
  • Perform high-level and detailed review of multiple complex accounting areas and escalate issues timely.
  • Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning efforts
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and transactions that have broader implications beyond accounting.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead a team of accounting professionals, including managers and/or senior individual contributors.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop talent through regular feedback, training, and performance management.
  • Drive engagement and accountability across the team.
  • Recommend staffing decisions including hiring, development planning, performance management, and compensation.
  • Foster a culture aligned with Prologis leadership principles and values
  • Serve as a credible leader within accounting and a trusted representative of the function outside the department.

Cross-Functional Partnership & Influence

  • Act as a primary accounting contact for assigned business partners.
  • Bridge accounting and operations by providing financial insights and resolving issues efficiently
  • Influence and gain alignment with accounting leadership, other departments, and executive stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong relationships across functions to foster trust and enable sound decision-making.

Process Improvement & Change Leadership

  • Identify and drive process improvements and technology enhancements within area of responsibility
  • Challenge the status quo through data-driven analysis and holistic business understanding.
  • Lead initiatives that streamline reporting, strengthen controls, and improve service delivery.
  • Thrive in ambiguity and guide the team through change while maintaining performance standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • Experience managing complex accounting operations and leading teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and manage change.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Hiring Salary Range of: $154,000 - $188,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI (Long Term Incentives) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
