About Vantage Data Centers

Vantage Data Centers powers, cools, protects and connects the technology of the world’s well-known hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises. Developing and operating across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific, Vantage has evolved data center design in innovative ways to deliver dramatic gains in reliability, efficiency and sustainability in flexible environments that can scale as quickly as the market demands.

Position Overview

Vantage seeks an experienced Director, Quality & Commissioning, NA to lead the North America program responsible for quality assurance, commissioning readiness and execution from design through turnover. You will set the QCx strategy, own standards and governance, and orchestrate cross-functional delivery across electrical, mechanical, controls/automation (BMS/EPMS), life safety and low-voltage systems to achieve predictable, compliant, evidence-based handovers at hyperscale.

This role elevates our program by integrating best-in-class practices seen across leading hyperscalers—governing commissioning scope (L1–L5), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), QA/QC, documentation (ITPs, redlines, as-builts, O&M), and vendor performance—while protecting critical path and operational readiness.

Essential Job Functions

Program Leadership & Governance

  • Define and own the NA Quality & Commissioning strategy, standards, and playbooks (Cx Plans, ITPs, test scripts, IST procedures, turnover packages), ensuring consistent application across the portfolio.

  • Establish governance cadences (readiness reviews, defect triage, KPI reporting) and enforce documentation quality for traceable, auditable turnover to Operations.

  • Create program KPIs (e.g., ITP pass rates, defect density, retest cycles, schedule adherence) and drive continuous improvement loops across active projects.

Commissioning & Quality Execution

  • Orchestrate L1–L5 commissioning (component through IST) and witness critical milestones; ensure prerequisite readiness (FAT/SAT, startup, protections, interlocks, alarming, trending) for safe, effective testing.

  • Oversee third-party Cx Agents and vendors; manage scope, performance, and closeout deliverables against Vantage standards and local codes.

  • Drive QA/QC integration with construction: spot audits, punchlist zero strategy, redline/as-built accuracy, and evidence-based compliance for MEP, EPMS/BMS, generators, UPS, switchgear, chillers/cooling plants, and containment.

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Align commissioning with design intent and operability: participate in design reviews; maintain interface control across electrical, mechanical, controls, life safety, and low-voltage systems.

  • Partner with D&E, Construction, Operations, and Security to protect critical path and deliver predictable, compliant handovers that meet business objectives.

  • Coordinate with Procurement/Contracts on Cx scope, RFPs, change orders and risk registers; ensure lessons learned are captured and propagated.

People & Culture

  • Build and mentor a high-performing QCx team (managers and program leads), developing technical depth in commissioning safety, method statements/MOPs/SOPs, and operations training at turnover.

  • Act as an ambassador of Quality, Safety and Commissioning best practices; model Vantage values of trust, accountability, respect and agility.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, or similar field, or equivalent experience

  • 10-15+ years of experience in a management role required

  • Complex and technical construction experience is required.

  • Demonstrated ownership of Cx standards development, L1–L5 execution, IST orchestration, and turnover documentation at scale.

  • Data Center experience is preferred.

  • Expertise across MEP, controls (BMS/EPMS), and low-voltage interfaces; strong understanding of codes, OEM requirements, and reliability-centered design.

  • Proven vendor/agent performance management (scorecards, KPIs), risk/change control, and schedule integration within master IMS.

  • Experience with FAT/SAT planning and witness, method statements, and commissioning safety practices for energized work and integrated testing.

  • Credentials such as P.E., CxA, CCP, CEM, PMP (or comparable). (Aligned to common hyperscale expectations shown in commissioning postings.)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools like MS Project or P6

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Travel required is expected to be up to 30-50% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
