Gartner’s High-Tech Invest (HTI) Research Group advises technology companies on the strategic business issues that help make them successful in their market.  In this group, the Emerging Market Dynamics Data Science team collaborates across the Group to deliver world-class insights from data and model assets, driving an undisputed competitive advantage and valuable insights.

Our team of data scientists collaborates closely across HTI to understand business and data requirements, creating powerful and impactful research insights through data science techniques. We leverage Gartner’s proprietary and third-party data assets to achieve this. New and ongoing projects are targeted toward developing innovative insights that can be scaled into data products and purpose-built models that amplifies Gartner’s ability to deliver thought-leading content and engagements with senior leaders at high-tech providers, including market leaders and startups.

What will you do:

  • Think critically and work with complex requirements, breaking those into solvable workstreams, to be analyzed using the right quantitative models to discover meaningful trends, insights, and information that will inform Gartner’s world-class research.
  • Pilot innovative ways to discern demand indicators from a variety of Gartner proprietary and publicly available data sources
  • Build and design LLM interfaces that allow Gartner’s analysts to gain a better understanding of A.I. trends as well as client priorities.
  • Perform comprehensive descriptive analytics to identify patterns and insights that influence high-tech business strategies.
  • Develop and maintain HTI intellectual property by using statistical methods to analyze data, identify trends, apply machine learning and optimization for actionable insights that deliver clear business value.
  • Develop and continuously improve a methodology to measure the predictive power of various proprietary and publicly available demand signals
  • Be responsible for high-quality, secure data science solutions with respect to proper documentation, further code-reusability principles, accuracy, scalability, and stability.
  • Stay current on fast-moving advancements in A.I. / machine learning technologies and techniques. Understand and follow disruptive data science solutions
  • Use an iterative approach for model development with cross-validation to enhance performance and prevent overfitting.
  • Develop deep familiarity with existing datasets and models while continuously evaluating and exploring additional datasets.
  • Communicate clearly the modeling approach and complex data findings based on a command of the facts, analysis, and understanding of the requirements. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 9+ years of progressive business experience involving advanced analytics, complex problem solving, and data science
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required with a master’s degree preferred. Degree with a concentration in statistics, data science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or relevant concentration.
  • Analysis & Modeling: Expertise in Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and implementing core statistical and machine learning models.
  • Machine Language Operations (MLOps) & Deployment: Proven ability to deploy, monitor, and scale models in production environments.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Design and optimize robust, high-volume data pipelines for training and inference.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Proficient with AWS, GCP, Azure and tools (e.g., Databricks) for large-scale data and model management.
  • Advanced AI: Integration of LLMs/NLP models into production workflows, focusing on scale and performance.
  • Programming: Strong proficiency in Python, with experience using relevant libraries for data analysis, machine learning, and numerical computing for developing scalable engineering solutions.
  • Exceptional problem solver, capable of taking loosely defined requirements and translating those into actionable science tasks and practical application and effectively communicating methodologies and quantitative analysis to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment thrives on feedback and seeks opportunities to stretch outside your comfort zone.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; in environments with competing and continuously evolving priorities, with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables.
  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity with a passion for understanding enterprise technology markets from both a business and technology perspective.
