What we are looking for:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director is responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities for Fiera Private Debt in order to achieve financial objectives and ensure the full growth potential of the firm. The Director will assist the Managing Director with origination, the initial screening of new financing opportunities, the preparation of credit committee submissions, closings, ongoing portfolio management and loan monitoring.

The incumbent must be self-motivated and well-organized, with strong expertise in risk assessment and

portfolio management. The incumbent must also possess excellent financial analysis skills. Candidates will be able to demonstrate these skills based on their ability to analyze a significant amount of information and present it in a clear and concise manner.

Your responsibilities:

  • Plays an active role in the due diligence process and contributes to the preparation of credit committee presentations;
  • Assists with the credit application process, write-up of internal memos, and drafting of commitment letters;
  • Prepare internal memorandums regarding all transaction amendments, when required, on existing loans
  • Complete and analyze due diligence searches and discuss results with the team;
  • Assist with ongoing portfolio management as required (portfolio analysis, loan tracking, liaising with borrowers), including detailed financial monitoring, and making appropriate recommendations;
  • Assists in the development of business opportunities, attends prospect meetings and actively builds a network of potential referral sources;
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Private Debt team and support junior staff in their professional development.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the commercial lending environment through ongoing research and participating in networking events; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must have requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Undergraduate degree in business or finance
  • Five to eight years and related experience in the Canadian debt market with a strong background in credit assessment, transaction structuring and documentation
  • Strategic and entrepreneurial vision with creative problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail with an ability to prioritize and make decisions in a timely matter
  • Advanced financial analysis skills, including the building of robust cash flow forecasts and financial models
  • Professional designation an asset, e.g., CFA, CPA
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Good oral and written communication
  • Ability to develop and maintain a network of business contacts
  • Proficiency in English and French (oral and written) is an asset
  • Occasional travel required
